    Parentification

    Trauma: Sexual Abuse and How It Shapes My Behaviours Now

    In this episode, I talk about sexual abuse, how it has affected me from a young age, and its effect on my relationships into adulthood. I hope me being vulnerable and open about my past traumas can help others going through something similar and not to feel alone. No more sweeping everything under the rug, but instead holding space and acknowledging how it can have a profound effect, something I’m still learning about almost 3 decades later.     Growing Up In An Abusive Household

    In this episode, I talk about what it was like to grow up in an abusive household, how it shaped my childhood, and even the way I am today. I touch on sexual, physical, emotional, and psychological abuse. It’s not all doom and gloom, but it can get quite heavy at times. I find a lot of people either question my diagnosis, are curious, or have lived through something similar to what I’ve been through and can relate. It’s taken me a long time to feel ok talking about what I’ve lived through and I’ve reached a place where I feel sharing my experiences may help others who are going through something similar or help them better understand a loved one who may have lived through some sort of trauma.
