    Episode 401 - Horror Talk - with Lisa McColgan and Jennifer LeGarde

    I met Jennifer LeGarde through the events and fundraising committee for Urban Media Arts. She recently moved to Malden, MA from Minneapolis, MN. Jennifer grew up in the 1980’s as an only child of two working parents who sprung for cable and were too busy to supervise what she watched. One of her favorite memories is renting American Werewolf in London for her birthday sleepover in 1986 and freaking out a bunch of kids who just wanted to watch Top Gun .   Lisa McColgan has been a horror fan for as long as she can remember. She was co-host and producer for the podcast "Stay Scary." She is a second degree Cabot priestess, having studied witchcraft and Tarot with Laurie Cabot, the "official witch of Salem." She is also active in the greater Boston music scene, playing drums and singing with The Zip-Ups and Maudlin Martyrs, and is a member of Bikini Whale, New England's premier (only?) Including yourself. Lisa L. Sears is a fine artist creating paintings and drawings in water-based media on paper and canvas. She earned her BFA in studio art at the School of Visual Arts, University of North Texas, with additional painting and photography study at University of Texas and mixed media painting at Art New England through MassArt. Her work has been described as symbolic, mythic, emotional, colorful, dream-like and nightmarish, which mixed all together might equal the moniker “whimsical depression.”  Dedicated to making art available to the community, Sears has been involved in Malden public arts projects including several years with Windows Art Malden, the Switchbox Project, “Pictures at an Exhibition Reframed” (a free piano concert and art exhibit organized by Malden Creates), and a recipient of a Malden Cultural Council grant for “Lines Connecting Lines”— a collaboration between area poets and artists—which she created and curated. Additionally, she was involved in the workings of Malden Pops Up, and participated in its later restructuring as The Gallery Inc., serving as Exhibit Coordinator and Curator for six-months.
