According to statistics, I should have ended up being a high school dropout, teenage mom, in an abusive relationship, and suffer from drug abuse. Thankfully I did not experience those things, and I attribute my life success to my mindset.   At a young age, I believed that I was in control of my destiny, living every day to create a life that I always dreamed of. I applied to college despite my low GPA and poor grades. I had to do a summer bridge program as a contingency, but I did it and was accepted. I applied for the Masters in Social Work (MSW) program despite my fear of not finishing because I felt like I was not smart enough. I got in and  with hard work, sacrifice, and consistency, graduated with my MSW.   When I make mistakes, I do not accept them as losses. I see them as achievements because mistakes teach me what does not work, which is just as important as knowing what does work. Life is hard, it has challenges but here I am,  winging it, and I’m winning.     When Your Child Has a Chronic Illness: 4 Tips to Help Reduce Caregiver Stress

    In episode 19 I share 4 Winging it and Winning tips that help me get through the stressful days that come along with taking care of someone who has a medical condition. My step daughter Karina was diagnosed with Focal Cortical Dysplasia  and the last 10 years of her life  has been full of siezures, test, and medication. Last year, Karina had a procedure called MRI guided laser ablation on her brain and so far it has been successful in controlling her seizures.   On 6/2/2021 Karina celebrated her 1 year anniversary being seizure free.   Winging it and Winning tips that help me get through the stressful days are: 1.     The Power of Forgiveness

    In this episode, I discuss what helped me rebuild my relationship with my mom. Growing up with a mother addicted to drugs made me feel lonely, abandoned, angry, and frustrated. Once I forgave my mom for her mistakes and she forgave herself, we were able to rebuild our relationship.     Winging It And Winning Tip: How to Prevent Feelings of Regret After the Death of a Loved One

    In Episode 15 I discuss the importance of making the changes in your life and showing people how much you care about them before it's too late. My father once said,  "show people that you love them and care for them when they are alive, not when they die." Experiencing so many deaths in such a short time period has amplified this exact thought because one just never knows when their last day on earth will be.
