Why Your Environment Is Affecting Your Emotions More Than You Think

In this episode of What She Grows Through, I'm sitting with a truth a lot of us don't slow down long enough to name, how our environment is shaping our emotions, our nervous system, and the way we show up every day. I'm sharing this from lived experience as a Black woman, mother, and a creative who spent years thinking I was just tired or overwhelmed, when really my body was responding to spaces that never allowed it to rest. We talk about emotional regulation beyond coping skills, why chaos can feel familiar even when it's costing us peace, and how choosing a different environment relates to safety, alignment, and healing. I also reflect on what it means for us as Black women to be intentional about the spaces we live, work, and raise our children in, especially in a world that constantly asks us to stay alert. This episode is an invitation to slow down, check in with your body, and ask yourself where you actually feel at ease. Not where you perform well, but where you can breathe. If you've been craving softness, clarity, and a deeper understanding of why certain seasons feel heavier than others, this conversation is for you! ✨ Share Your Reflection If this episode resonated with you, I'd love to hear your thoughts. You can send me a message on Instagram or Facebook sharing what came up for you, a journal entry, or a reflection you're sitting with. With your permission, I may share reflections in future episodes or posts so we can continue growing through this together. Produced by Shanell Lamere Films.

What Being HER Now Actually Looks Like

What Being HER Now Actually Looks Like This episode is a real-time reflection on what being HER now actually looks like in my life. Not the polished version or a highlight reel, but the grounded becoming that's happening in between the big moments. I'm sharing where I am right now as a Black woman, a mother, a storyteller, and an entrepreneur who's choosing alignment over survival, intention over urgency, and presence over pressure. This season has been about unlearning who I had to be, appreciating who I am, and finally letting myself live inside the version of me I used to wait for. If you're entering this year craving clarity, softness, and realness, this conversation is for you! Not to tell you who to become, but to remind you that you're already allowed to be her, right where you are. 🎬 Watch the Visual That Pairs With This Episode If you want to see what this season looks like, I shared a visual reflection of my move and what choosing peace and stability for myself and my kids has looked like in real life. It's not a traditional moving vlog but more of a moment of becoming. 👉 Watch the Moving Visual on YouTube: Closing One Chapter, Opening Another Moving Visual This visual brings the words in this episode to life. 🌱 More Ways to Stay Connected 🎧 Listen to the What She Grows Through Podcast 🎬 Produced by Shanell Lamere Films Visual storytelling rooted in meaning, legacy, and real life www.ShanellLamereFilms.com 💭 Reflection for You, Sis As you listen, ask yourself: What does being HER now look like for me, without rushing, without performing, and without shrinking? Journey Into Joy! Pia's Path to Well-Being

What's up, Beautiful souls! 🌼 Step into our space for an episode infused with the warmth of summer, where we journey through joy, self-love, and the art of well-being. I had the pleasure of sitting down with the radiant Pia Thompson, whose path has been as dynamic as it's been inspiring. From a writer and speaker to a home therapist and well-being coach, Pia has been on a transformative voyage, and she's here to share it with our community of powerful Black and Brown women. Dive deep into Pia's story as she recounts her serendipitous encounter with Marie Kondo's philosophy after a pivotal job interview. But for Pia, it wasn't just about tidying up – it was a spiritual awakening. Through decluttering, she unearthed spaces that sang songs of personal tales and evoked genuine joy. But she didn't stop at just physical realms; Pia's journey beautifully merges into the sacred territories of self-reflection, intentionality, and setting boundaries in a world that constantly tugs at our time. Drawing strength and wisdom from her experiences as a Black woman, Pia offers a fresh, soulful perspective on the importance of living in our truth and nurturing joy in every step we take. As we ride the waves of this Self-Care Summer Series, Pia's narrative is a gentle reminder that the journey to well-being and happiness is uniquely ours but shared in its essence. Join us for a heartwarming episode filled with laughter, insights, and a sprinkle of summer magic.
