    Reflections with Titilope and Konyinsola from the University of Birmingham Black Women's Society

    Arissa speaks with Titilope Obadina and Konyinsola Awosika, two 2nd year law students who are also founding committee members of the Black Women's Society. Titilope talked about why she is inspired by Dame Linda Dobbs, the first black female High Court Judge in the UK, and they both shared their feelings about black representation in the legal profession and legal study.

    Reflections with Israel and Tamia from BEMA

    Arissa speaks with Israel Tamale and Tamia Vernon. Israel is a 2nd Year Law with French Law student, Co-Chair of BEMA and Guild Representative for Equality and Diversity. Tamia is the Women's Officer for BEMA, she is currently a third year Philosophy, Religion and Ethics student and intends to pursue law afterwards. Israel discusses the Canadian case of Fred Christie as well as legal loopholes in the US that prevent police accountability. Tamia discuses Angela Davis' approach to intersectionality in black liberation movements, as well as the US prisons industrial complex. This is a slightly longer episode with lots of food for thought!

    Refections with Sharla from The Caribbean Union

    Arissa speaks with Sharla Peters, a 3rd Year International Law and Globalisation student and Cultural Liaison for The Caribbean Union at the University of Birmingham. They discuss the legacy of the Windrush Generation from a personal perspective, touching on context surrounding the British Nationality Act 1948, The Commonwealth Immigrants Act 1968, and the Hostile Environment Policy that led to the Windrush Scandal in 2018. Sharla also shares her inspirations for studying law and her incredible journey into legal studies.
