Veteran Perspectives

Veteran Perspectives is what happens when a disabled Army vet with PTSD, a past in teaching, and way too many opinions decides to turn his blogs into a podcast. It’s part therapy, part rant, part “WTF is even happening anymore?” Expect stories, strong takes, awkward tangents, and the occasional “Did he really just say that?” If you're into honesty, dry humor, and war-torn wisdom from a dude who’s been through it—pull up a chair. No guests, no scripts, no filter. Just vibes. "Life, trauma, purpose—and a little profanity.”

AI Future-Proofing the Next Generation (Part 4)

"The world changed. Education didn’t." In this episode, I’m digging deeper into the ideas from Part 4 of the Future-Proof Student series. We’ve spent the last few weeks calling out the resistance within the academic establishment. Today, we pivot to the solution. If we continue to grade students based on their ability to follow instructions and memorize facts, we are essentially training them to be second-rate versions of the AI tools they will eventually compete with. As a veteran, I look at this through the lens of Mission Readiness. Are we actually equipping our kids with the gear they need for the modern economic battlefield? In this episode, I cover: The "Interrogation" Mindset: Why the ability to ask the right questions (Prompting) is now more valuable than knowing the answers. The Hallucination Guardrail: Teaching students to be the "Verify" in "Trust but Verify" when dealing with AI output. From Compliance to Creativity: Why the "good soldier" model of education is failing our children in a creative economy. A New Curriculum: What happens when we stop fearing the tools and start integrating them into every subject from history to science. The academic leadership can either adapt or become obsolete. Either way, we cannot let our children pay the price for their hesitation. Leave a comment and let’s get the conversation started.

A Veteran Teacher's Warning: The Academic War on AI

The academic establishment is terrified of Artificial Intelligence. Instead of adapting to a rapidly changing world, schools are actively banning the exact tools our children need to survive in the modern economy. In this video essay, we break down why this resistance is not just foolish. It is a massive dereliction of duty. After spending a decade in the classroom and deploying with the US Army, I know exactly what failed leadership looks like. If a military commander refused to issue their troops the most advanced gear available, they would be relieved of command. Today, our school administrators are doing exactly that to our students, and they are hiding behind the excuse of "academic integrity." It is time to stop playing defense. We have to equip our kids for the reality of the economic battlefield they are walking into. Read the full essay on Veteran Perspectives: https://veteranperspectives.substack.com/p/the-resistance-to-ai-is-a-dereliction Resources Mentioned in this Episode: US Constitution Audio Study Guide: Stop relying on the school system to teach your kids civics. Equip them with the foundational documents of our republic. Get the audio guide here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4448219056/us-constitution-audio-study-guide In this episode, we cover: The deep hypocrisy of AI bans in modern classrooms. Why the 20th century education model is officially obsolete. The direct parallel between military readiness and student preparedness. How parents can step up and take command of their child's future.
