On Feeding the Dead | with Angelica Cresci

I approached Angelica for an interview after hearing her discuss her talk, Cooking for Death, a historical breakdown of and approach to working with animal sacrifice, drawn from ancient Egypt and Greece and grounded in her own magical practice. Along the way, the conversation takes a few turns. If you spend time in certain corners of the astro world, you may pick up on a thread that's been a hot topic. I want to make clear I'm not a journalist. I'm not an academic. It's not my job to make judgments on people—at least publicly. But what I can do, and what I am doing in this interview, is reflect on my own relationship to power and who I choose to give it to. And that conversation is bigger than any one person. This episode is about food—but it's also about nourishment, connection to our ancestors, and connection to self. It's an encounter that's left me asking questions and searching for more questions. Note: This interview was inspired by Angelica's talk, Cooking for Death, which you can access by joining her Patreon. From Mediumship to Astrology with KristaLyn Sofia

KristaLyn Sofia died on an operating table when they were ten years old. That would turn out to be a major turning point in their development as a psychic medium, and, perhaps, the seed moment for their astrological career. Aside from being someone with a fascinating origin story, KristaLyn is a dear friend of mine. Their work and support over the years have been pivotal to my own development—personally and professionally. For years, as some of you might remember, the two of us gathered on IG Live every Monday to talk astrology for a series called Ask Me Astros. This conversation was originally meant as a casual check-in for YouTube after years of being apart. I enjoyed it so much I decided to share it as a podcast. A quick note: The Larry we discuss is our mentor Larry Arrington. If you've never heard that name, it's because Larry is as devoted to their studies as they are allergic to social media. And if you know that name, there's a good chance you agree with me when I say that Larry is one of the most brilliant astrologers of our time. Without Larry and KristaLyn, I might not be an astrologer. They've both helped me navigate tumultuous times, professionally and personally. Larry and KristaLyn are both joining me as guest guides in my upcoming six-week workshop, Seeking Shelter: Writing Through the Venus Retrograde. About KristaLyn KristaLyn combines ancient astrology with modern intuition and consulting skills to offer tangible guidance and help you align timing with intention. They walk you through your birth chart and connect the stars to your life in a clear and practical way to help you so you feel seen, validated, and empowered in your next steps. KristaLyn serves as the Vice President of NCGR and grows their own understanding through continued mentorship in astrology, folk magic, and religious studies with private teachers and the St. Andrew's College Lifelong Learners Program. Flowers From Impossible Realms with Rick Levine

This week, I am tired after spending seven whole days in Chicago at the big astrology conference. And so, since I don't batch podcasts ahead of time—because that would be responsible and no fun—I'm pulling out a favorite from the YouTube archive. This episode's guest is one of my all-time favorite astrologers and thinkers, Rick Levine. If you're somehow not familiar with that name, surely you don't spend time on the internet—and you're in for a treat! Our conversation was recorded over two years ago, in person—this will become obvious once you start listening. This is the first time this talk has been shared as a podcast. I had a lot of fun with this one—and I think it's even gotten better with age. About Rick A professional astrologer since 1976, Rick Levine has long been a respected leader in the global Astrology community. He is one of the most widely published horoscope authors, has made numerous radio, podcast, and television appearances, has spoken at professional events around the world, and runs his own astrological consulting business. Rick presents Astrology as a tool for empowerment, understanding, and creativity. He was a Founding Trustee of Kepler College for Astrological Arts and Sciences and a two-term President of the Washington State Astrologers Association ('92–'94). Rick continues to serve the Astrology community through events and educational resources. He is also currently involved in multiple professional associations and provides personalized astrological consultations for individuals, corporations, institutions, and non-profits from his home near Seattle, Washington. Meditation on Astrology With Catie McQ: Eclipses, Retrogrades, and What Comes Next

This week's conversation is with Catie McQ, someone I could listen to speak for hours on end. Give it a listen, and you'll know what I mean. This recording was supposed to be about eclipses, but — as is often the case when you connect two people with Gemini placements — the talk took on a life of its own. Yes, we touch on eclipses and the current moment, but ultimately this is a meditation on astrology itself. About Catie Catie McQ is an astrologer, writer, and researcher whose work sits at the intersection of the personal and the collective. Through her platform Celestial Healing, she brings psychological depth and cultural curiosity to the birth chart, connecting the stars to history, community, and the larger story we're all living through together. Alan Scheurman: Applying Consciousness to Astrology

This episode's guest is Alan Scheurman — multi-hyphenate artist, teacher, and purveyor of applied consciousness. While I've known him peripherally for years — his work has had an outsized influence on my life. This talk has been a long time coming. In it, we get into Alan's origin story, the intersection of astrology and plant medicine, and spend some time reminiscing about Detroit, the city where we first met. This is, I hope, the first of many conversations between us. About Alan Alan Scheurman is a multi-hyphenate artist, teacher, and purveyor of applied consciousness. Under the moniker Santiparro, he’s released visionary psychedelic-folk music since 2010. On a medicine path for 18 years, and dieting in the Shipibo-Konibo tradition for 13, Scheurman has been guiding ceremonies and diets with the trust, respect, and blessing of his maestros for the past decade. His work outside of ceremony moves freely between the sacred and the absurd — putting a lens up to the strange contradictions of the “psychedelic renaissance” with the same curiosity he brings to consciousness research, expanded perceptual capacities development, and the mysteries of reality. These explorations find their way into his music, writing, teaching, humor, and work for film. The Bodhi Tree Years: Gary Lachman on Punk, Philosophy & the New Age

This episode’s guest is the musician and author Gary Lachman. That is a vast understatement for someone who has been inducted into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Blondie and, has, in a separate career, published over 25+ books on consciousness, the occult and the western esoteric traditions. I first approached Gary to discuss his book Dreaming Ahead of Time, a work that has had a profound impact on me, in both my waking and dreaming life. In the time between that first request and our interview, the focus shifted. If you’re a regular listener of this podcast, you might have noticed that the city of Los Angeles, my adopted home, its people, and its stories have been surfacing throughout these most recent episodes — specifically the episodes with Ronnie Pontiac and Edward O. One of the places that has stepped into view is the Bodhi Tree, a metaphysical bookstore that was a hub for the New Age movement in Los Angeles from its opening in 1970 to its closure in 2012— its legacy still reverberates through many great thinkers of this city. For years, Gary was at the center of this scene. He talks about his time at the Bodhi Tree Bookstore in his memoir, Touched by the Presence. This was the spark for our discussion — but, as conversations do, this one took on a life of its own. Support the Podcast & Learn Astrology! Ready to take a deep dive into astrology? If Indra's Net Were a Hammock: On North Star Campout with Hawk

This episode’s guest is Hawk, a human who needs only one name because they're that brilliant and magical. They, along with Josh Proto and Dira Osland, are the organizers behind North Star Camp Out — a multiday gathering of astrologers and magicians taking place on farmland in the Pacific Northwest at the end of this month —  which is aug in the year of 2026. Honestly, I don't need to make a pitch. It's one of those "if you build it, they will come" situations. For the record, I have been called. I am coming.
