The One Fifty Marchers follows Frazer & JD's journey to track down the 150 men and women who took part in the first LGBTQ+ march on Highbury Fields, London, on November 27th, 1970. This march took place to protest the way in which gay people were being treated and was the spark which began the UK gay rights movement. This podcast is a celebration of the original marchers, a number of which we will speak with throughout, and the work they did in making LGBTQ+ rights move forward in the United Kingdom. The podcast includes interviews with current LGBTQ+ campaigners in the United Kingdom about the brilliant work they are doing to support the community.

Inspirational

This is an extremely well done, inspirational tale of a brave fight against narrow-minded prejudice that will resonate with anyone who’s ever been excluded based on their true selves.

Important and insightful podcast

Just finished the first episode of this wonderful podcast and I’m already hooked. I learned so much about UK LGBTQ+ history just from this one short segment! As a queer scholar who focuses on memory and culture, I’m fascinated to stick with this and see where it takes JD and Frazer. A really admirable project that has been well executed (despite their protestations on this). JD and Frazer have hit on something important here and I’m excited to watch this project play out.

Bringing a Voice to an Event I Never Would Have Known About

I’m an American listener. As a straight, cisgender human, it’s already taken extra research and my own curiosity to learn about Stonewall within American history. In just one episode, the hosts have expanded my knowledge and brought awareness to important queer UK history. The facts are baffling and need to be shared. Not only is the content interesting and important, but the hosts are incredibly engaging, and despite their disclaimers of having no budget or experience, the production quality is wonderful, making this an engaging, thought provoking, and enjoyable listening experience. HIGHLY recommend!!!
