Growing Up and Realizing Adults Were Making It Up

At some point growing up, you realise something terrifying: adults don't actually know everything. In this episode of Red Eye & Erratic Asthmatic, we look back at the things we genuinely believed as kids and the ridiculous things adults told us along the way. Santa Claus. The Tooth Fairy. Superheroes. Parents who seemed to have all the answers. Teachers who were supposed to know everything. Then you get older and start noticing that maybe the adults were just… making it up as they went. From childhood beliefs and strange family traditions to questionable teachers, bizarre classroom experiences, ridiculous school punishments, and discovering that your parents weren't necessarily the perfect students they expected you to be — this conversation turns into a hilarious look at what happens when childhood innocence meets adult reality. Back to School, Bad Decisions

Back to school means back to the memories we probably should've left behind. Red Eye and Erratic Asthmatic are digging through the childhood archives and discovering just how many questionable decisions, terrible ideas, and unnecessary injuries happened before adulthood. This episode starts with childhood pranks — including a senior prank involving a stink bomb and a school intercom — before getting into ridiculous sibling arguments, trying way too hard to impress someone you liked, and the strange things kids do just to look cool. Then things get painful. Broken collarbones. Glass doors. Bike crashes. Forehead injuries. Basketballs to the throat. Somehow, they both made it through childhood. Table for Three: Solo Travel, Driving Tests & Dutch Bike Chaos

What happens when you travel alone, your holiday plans suddenly change, and you start wondering whether €3,000 is better spent on a driving license or a holiday? Red Eye and Erratic Asthmatic get into all of it. The conversation starts with Erratic trying to reorganize a complicated trip after plans change and the realization that planning a holiday is already annoying enough without having to do it twice. That leads into the joys of travelling alone: no schedules, no arguing over restaurants, no waiting for someone who doesn't want to go somewhere, and absolutely nobody stopping you from booking a table for three when it's just you, yourself and I. The guys also debate whether the best way to plan a trip is simply to find the food first and build everything else around it. Then comes the €3,000 question. Should you spend thousands getting a Dutch driving license, or take the money and disappear somewhere for a week instead? From the cost of driving lessons and exams to public transport, car insurance, road tax and parking, the guys try to work out whether owning a car actually makes sense in the Netherlands. And naturally, the conversation ends up exactly where you'd expect: Dutch bikes. Shark teeth. Right of way. Crosswalks that apparently function more like suggestions. And the shocking revelation that Erratic hasn't ridden a bicycle in years despite living in the Netherlands.
