The Holy Spirit to the Modern World: A Pentecost Sunday Reflection | Tambayan sa Seminaryo

Episode Intro: Christianity, as we know it, is more than just a way of life. It is a cause that brings us all together as a family, as a community, and as a communion of souls united in the spirit of Love and Mercy, guarded by the virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love. To be a Christian in the modern world is to be a continuum of the early Christians who continue to hold on to faith in Jesus. It is about representing Christ in a world that is driven by materialistic causes, selfish intentions, and insecure notions of the self. Christianity is a guide to Life, to be able to live Life and live it to the fullest of goodness and grace. Highlight points: The essence of Christianity in the lives of the faithful. The Pentecost for those who haven’t realized Christ in their lives The Holy Spirit to the Catholics, non-Catholics, and non-believers About the host: Welcome to Tambayan sa Seminaryo Podcast Network. Trust in Jesus: The Divine Mercy Sunday and the Modern Generation | Tambayan sa Seminaryo

In light of the modern-day Catholic Christian teachings, beliefs, and practices, what is the relevance of the devotion to the faithful’s everyday life? What does it entail to trust Jesus amidst all the doubts and worries hurled to us by the trends of the modern world? How is the devotion of Divine Mercy a helpful guide to our faith, hope, and love in the Lord? As we move towards the greatest obstacle of our generation, we need to be more receptive to the grace of God’s Divine Mercy. With all the hardships, we are truly grateful to have a God who doesn’t weigh much on our actions but our openness to His constant mercy and forgiveness. Our daily lives have been utterly demanding especially now that we need to work harder to survive the current pandemic and all other life challenges. Yet, Jesus is always there to remind us to trust Him more than we trust ourselves. Our devotion is measured by how much we trust in divine grace and, through the devotion of Divine Mercy, we can deepen it and make it our humble guide to life. To trust Jesus despite the oppositions of reality we continuously face at every waking moment is to put our will to Him, model our thoughts, words, and actions like His. It is to ultimately submit ourselves to His divine love and mercy more so when we fail to fulfill our Christian duties. Our world today is calling more on loving oneself, yet it has disregarded the core value of loving God above everything else as well as loving our brethren. To submit in Divine Mercy and to trust in Jesus is to fulfill our Christian mission in loving God above everything else and loving others as much as the self. My dear friends, the institution of the Sunday of Mercy on the eighth day of the Easter Octave is linked to the Resurrection and how this momentous event in Christian history procures the devotion of Mercy and Love of God towards His beloved creation, who is now His children. It is on this devotion that the Lord shrouds us in His fatherly love, envelops us in the protection of Mercy and Compassion regardless of our sins, and His plea to conversion, to constant belief in His presence, His affection, and, ultimately, His love for all of us. Divine Mercy is the link to the theological virtues and the Way where we can all see God at the end of our lives. May we all, today, confidently profess to His Divine Mercy by saying, “Jesus, I trust in You”

Christ Lives Eternal: The Risen Lord and Modern-Day Christian Life | Tambayan sa Seminaryo

As we begin proclaiming the greatest news of all, our Christianity may have come along with doubts and fears. What’s in it for me that the Lord has risen from the dead? How does our Christianity become solidified by the faith in the Risen Lord? What is the message of the Resurrection to our modern-day Christian life? Christ’s resurrection wasn’t God’s selfish attempt to make Himself known. It was a selfless call and foresight borne to us with a promise that, soon, we will also rise from the dead and live with our Creator, Savior, and Sanctifier, who is God eternal. Our Lord’s rising from the dead is an affirmation that Death is a conquerable human nature through trusting oneself to the will of God. His resurrection is what brings us hope of the eternal life promised to us in our daily covenant with our Divine Creator. His conquest of death solidifies the faith planted in our hearts from the moment our God created us in His image and likeness. His promise “of life of the world to come” (Nicene Creed) is His undying act of love that brought everyone back to the Father. All these are fulfilled according to the will of the One who created us, saved us, and sanctified us in spirit and truth. Christianity is nothing without this momentous event. It is the very reason why we hold high regards to the Easter octave where we remember how we are as Christians, as children of the One True God -- Father, Son, and Spirit -- and the core tenents of our doctrines and magisterium. The Holy Church, in all aspects, is essenced from Easter morning. Totally and undoubtingly believing in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior strengthens everything we have held dear in our Christian faith. The Resurrection of our Lord on the easter morning of the Third Day after His triumph on the Cross signifies a promise to all who heed the call of sacrifice out of Love. It is an invitation to faith, open access to the fount of Mercy where the Lord calls upon all of us - including those too much indulged into the modernity of the world, and a beacon of hope that the promise of Eternal Salvation through Divine Charity and utmost submission to God’s Holy Will is not negotiable nor discriminatory. Modern-day Catholicism and Christianity have hurled all of us towards an inevitable doubt towards what happened on Easter Sunday, but it is also solidifying the shroud of mystery that continuously nourish us to believing all the more our Christian values, our Catholic catechisms, and our deep devotions to the Lord through our union with all who believed in the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Happy Easter, my dear brothers and sisters, and may the Risen Lord bless us all, keep us safe from the wraths of sin and death, and bring us to everlasting life.

Christ Reigns: Good Friday of the Lord's Passion | Tambayan sa Seminaryo

Friends, true love requires sacrifice and hardships. It is what our Lord had promulgated as the universal law of charity. None can ever express true love without experiencing first the hardships and tribulations in doing it. No one truly loves while keeping a safer stand. This act, my dear friends, is the message of the Cross - we are bound to love through hardships as our God was bound to sacrifice His divinity to be with us, His creation, and express His love for us. The cross, more than anything else, is a symbol of Love that transcends all generations. It is a powerful yet humble reminder of how God, in His majesty, chose to love His creation and even laid down His mortal life to save mankind, who is His beloved. But why did God do it? Why did the Lord undergo all of it rather than use His almighty power to disperse the wrath of sin and death from His creation? It’s all on the law God has established on Love and Mercy. While He has given essence to this universal law, He is also subjected to it. God wasn’t exempted from the law of Love where sacrifice has to be made for Him to express His love to His creation. The Lord also showed us that even He has to go through it all to love and be loved. The Calvary experience is both a call to love and to be loved. The Cross was, is, and will always be a sign of ultimate universal love that conquers all, even death and sin. Our God pinned to the cross is a picture of Love that cannot be disputed nor doubted. Jesus Christ has shown us the way to love God through our love to our dearest brethren, including those outside our circle of faith. My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, the Lord’s Passion is our roadmap towards knowing and understanding Love. It is our guide towards deepening the faith we hold dear from the moment of our baptism. It is our beacon of light that keeps us illuminated on our journey towards Him. Through our commemoration of the Paschal mystery, we are indulged in the special love the Lord has shown us. Through remembering the suffering Lord on the cross, we are reminded of the true value of love. Through our deep anticipation of His second coming, we are prepared for the life of the world to come. Through Jesus, we are all part of the family that God has created through His establishment of Love and Mercy to the universe. The Holy Week is the ultimate season where we remember all these, remind ourselves of the Love the Lord has shown us on the cross, and preparing us to embrace the kind of love we ought to show our brethren through our acceptance of the suffering, as much as Lord has accepted the Cross to show us how much He loves us all.
