You Can Be Anything Podcast

Solange Che

For many years, I was caught up in the thought that failing at my first big dream meant that was it for me. I started doing survival jobs that did not have anything to do with my formal education. Suspending my Ph.D. after about 2 years took me back to ground zero because all I had done for the past 28 years of my life was study. Failure is a state of mind that if not handled with care can destroy ones' personality. It took me to acceptance, goal setting, revamping my self-confidence, sacrifice, resilience, and vulnerability to come to the realization that I can start all over again and be my best version. Episodes in this podcast will include real-life experiences and lessons learned, and chats with people with a similar story so that listeners will have a wide variety of content to draw from. This is a learning process for us all and so deliberations based on questions and concerns will be discussed as well. This is a medium for us to learn how we can be audible and be our own best versions. Support this podcast: https://solangeche.com/

Episode 69: "I am NOT Jesus, I will make sure they pay"

In this episode, I sit down with *Dorcas Comedy World**, known on Facebook, and **Dorcas Braids by Kings LLC* on TikTok and Instagram.   From gossip to braids, Dorcas has built a unique business and social media brand as a *"gossip braider"* in the United States—often braiding his clients while casually smacking on Trident Gum! 😂 But behind the humor and creativity is a much deeper story. We talk about: ✨ How Dorcas got into the braiding business and created the "gossip braider" brand ✨ The inspiration behind his unique approach to entertaining clients while braiding ✨ The bullying, harassment, and threats he experienced from members of the Cameroonian community—even before he publicly came out as gay ✨ Growing up without knowing his biological father ✨ His childhood, upbringing, and the experiences that shaped the person he is today ✨ Identity, resilience, acceptance, and finding the courage to live authentically ✨ The journey from pain and rejection to building a successful business and creating a platform for himself.   This is a conversation about *more than hair, gossip, or social media.* It is about identity, survival, courage, family, community, and the power of becoming yourself unapologetically.   *Watch, listen, and let me know what part of Dorcas' story resonated with you the most.*   🎧 *You Can Be Anything Podcast — Episode 69*   👉🏾 Don't forget to *LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE, and SUBSCRIBE* to the channel! #YouCanBeAnythingPodcast #Episode69 #DorcasComedyWorld #DorcasBraidsByKings #Cameroon #Cameroonian #GossipBraider #LGBTQ #ComingOut #Authenticity #Resilience #Entrepreneurship #AfricanStories #CameroonianCommunity #YouCanBeAnything

Episode 70: From Dreams to Impact - Meet Stephanie Tum | Actress and Producer

She left a steady job in 2017 to bet everything on film. Today, Stephanie Tum's production company has built a slate of more than fifteen films that you can watch on YouTube. In this episode of The You Can Be Anything, I sit down with actress, producer, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Stephanie Tum, founder of EMBI Company Ltd and the Embi Charity Foundation, based in Bamenda, Cameroon. Beyond the screen, Stephanie founded GirlsAndHygiene to champion menstrual health education and BreakTheStigma to open up honest conversations about mental health. She is also a mother of two, building businesses across film, television, and cosmetics. *In this conversation* We talk about the leap from a stable job to building a film company from nothing, the making of her most personal and acclaimed work, what it meant to see The Planters Plantation represent Cameroon on the world's biggest stage, and the advocacy she's built around menstrual health and mental health. She also speaks directly about the killing of women in Cameroon, with hard, practical advice for anyone who feels their life may be in danger. *A few moments that stayed with us* "A red flag is a red flag. There's no excuse for it. Leave, leave, please." — Stephanie's message to any woman who senses danger in her situation. Her call for women to build financial independence and their own "escape fund" — because when the moment comes to leave, having nowhere to go can be the difference between safety and staying. Her appeal to the people around a woman in danger — partners, siblings, friends — not to blame her, mock her, or pressure her to stay. *More from Stephanie* 🎥 Stephanie Tum TV on YouTube:    / @stephanietum_tv   #YouCanBeAnything #YCBA #StephanieTum #CameroonianCinema #WomenSafety
