    +EVO Sessions | Leadership & Culture EP 2 – Leadership Excellence

In this episode, we peek into the brilliant minds of K and Edwin K., one of the Lead Pastors of The Evolution, as they unpack the key elements of Leadership Excellence—with a playful geek-out moment over their favourite Olympic highlights.🏅⛹️‍♂️🏓 The conversation opens with the often-misunderstood concept of willingness to serve, not as a weakness but as a powerful life value that motivates and sustains effective leadership. The discussion then shifts to opportunities: seizing opportunities isn’t just about titles or promotions but opening doors to personal growth. K and E introduce an interesting study highlighted in a Harvard Business Review article, discussing gender differences in responses to “low-promotability” opportunities and what that means for aspiring leaders. In the latter half, K and E address practical questions from guests on maintaining consistency and meeting expectations through varying seasons of life. (Real talk. FRFR.) They wrap with an essential takeaway: that the ultimate aim of leadership and greatness is to love people better. This is a really helpful one on getting practical!  — 🎧 Episode Notes:   “Leadership Excellence” by Edwin K. 3 Truths about Opportunities:  Truth #1: Opportunities come from people in authority. (The bosses, managers, interviewer, God)  Truth #2: Opportunities are earned not given.  (Prove that you are a worthy prospect)  Truth #3: Opportunities are a chance for personal growth, more than a promotion or paycheck. (Personal growth is what ensures that the promotion is the first of many to come)  3 things that people in authority are looking for:  Willingness to Serve Ability to meet expectations  Every (specific) job opportunity comes with a specific set of expectations we must live up to. Excellence is meeting and surpassing the specific expectations of the job/s you've been given. +EVO Sessions | Leadership & Culture EP 1B – Hope & Synergy

Last week, strengths, success, and significance. In this second half, C + K talk the difference between giving hope and being a visionary. Spoiler alert! You don’t need a grand visions to become a great leader. We speak candidly on this being a hard season at The Evolution, and how to keep hope alive in tough times. C shares a simple 4 Ps formula to staying positive by knowing ourselves, leaning into our passions, disciplining our thoughts and actions (prayer included!), and surrounding ourselves with people that lift us up. On the topic of synergy, C + K field questions on alignment of values both in groups and as individuals. And K shares her takeaways from Patrick Lencioni, on the 5 dysfunctions that can break up a team. Team doesn’t just happen when people come together, real teams become teams because of a lot of intention. This one is packed with practical insights and strategies. Let’s be better leaders and build greater teams! — 🎧 Episode Notes:   “UNTITLED” by Karis T.  Strengths: Effective leaders invest in their strengths. S1 EP 29: How Do I Get Where I Want To Be?

In EP 29, we go at identity again— and how it relates practically to figuring our personal whys, deciding which school and career paths to pursue and how to succeed at doing life. We also take on QUESTIONS… How do I know something is really my passion and not just my ego or other’s expectations? Can I have multiple things that I’m good at? What should I prioritise? Money or passion? Is it possible to never find my why? Must my why be clearly articulated? How can I break out of the boxes a limited school system puts me in? We discuss ideas from Simon Sinek’s Find Your Why, Angela Duckworth’s Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance and Liz Wiseman’s How to Take the Lead, Play Bigger, and Multiply Your Impact. And we talk about why connecting your why to impacting others, matters. — (Un)Common Humanity is a culture and leadership podcast from Charmaine J. S1 EP 28: Hello Crypto & NFTs

This week, K’s bestie— REGINA LOO joins us at the UCH table! After we talk who’s bossier and who’s taste in music is better… *awkward*, we talk Regina’s latest obsession: Crypto currency. It’s the ‘in-thing’ now ain’t it? Well, what is crypto? What’s the deal with blockchain technology? How does it work? How stable or volatile is crypto currency really, and what factors determine both? We talk the security of the technology itself, the hack-ability of your crypto wallet and the ways you can ‘lose’ it. Word to the wise: If you tend to lose your actual wallet and forget your passwords…you might want to step up your game if you’re thinking of going crypto. Lol. We also talk crypto scams— can anyone say, “Squid Coin”? Don’t worry, it’s not as ‘dangerous’ as you think…IF you do your homework. But remember: There is no current legal recourse if you buy into a crypto scam. Then we cover NFTs. The new art and creative world of a now and future metaverse. DISCLAIMER: We’re not experts. We’re figuring this out like you are. So please, do your homework and keep an eye on your wallet. Happy (but careful) investing. — 💌 Our love & gratitude to Regina Loo. Thanks for always being willing to show up and bring your wise and intelligent mind. — (Un)Common Humanity is a culture and leadership podcast from Charmaine J.
