    3. Believe : The Witnesses John 1:6-9

The Responsibility to Bear Witness: Jesus is the Light of the world (John 8:12), and we are called to reflect His light. We must be faithful in sharing the true biblical gospel (Matthew 28:19-20). The Forerunners of Christ: The Old Testament prophets foretold Christ’s coming (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7, 53:5). John the Baptist prepared the way for Jesus (John 1:29, 34; Isaiah 40:3). The Father’s Witness: Miracles confirmed Jesus’ identity (John 10:25; Acts 2:22). God audibly affirmed Jesus as His Son (Matthew 3:17, 17:5; John 12:28). The resurrection proved Jesus as Lord (Romans 1:4; Acts 17:31). The Apostles' Testimony: They were eyewitnesses (2 Peter 1:16; 1 John 1:3). They endured persecution for the gospel (1 Corinthians 4:10-13; 2 Corinthians 11:24-25). Their testimony strengthens our faith and calls us to boldness. Discussion Questions: What does it mean to "bear witness" to Christ in our daily lives? How do Old Testament prophecies strengthen our confidence in Jesus as the Messiah? Why do you think God publicly affirmed Jesus multiple times? How does this impact our faith? The apostles were willing to suffer and die for their faith. How does their testimony challenge our own commitment to Christ? What are some obstacles that prevent us from witnessing boldly? How can we overcome them? In what ways can our personal transformation serve as a witness to those around us? (Ephesians 5:8, 2 Corinthians 3:18) How does unity among believers help to bear witness to Christ? (John 17:21-23) Life Application & Self-Study: Personal Reflection: Identify one person in your life who needs to hear the gospel. Pray for an opportunity to share Christ with them this week. Evaluate your own life: Are you reflecting Christ's light, or are there areas that need surrender? Practical Steps to Witnessing: Memorize key scriptures to be ready to share the gospel (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 10:9-10). Share your personal testimony with someone who does not yet know Christ. Live out your faith through acts of love and service (Matthew 5:16). Self-Study Passages: The Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) Jesus as the Light of the World (John 8:12; Matthew 5:14-16) The Role of the Holy Spirit in Witnessing (Acts 1:8; John 14:26) Encouragement in Persecution (2 Timothy 3:12; Matthew 10:32-33) Closing Thought: Bearing witness to Christ is both a privilege and a responsibility. We follow in the footsteps of the prophets, John the Baptist, the apostles, and ultimately Jesus Himself. Let us commit to boldly shining His light in our homes, workplaces, and communities.

    2. Believe : Jesus is Life John 1:4-9

Belief in Jesus: The Life and Light John 1:4-9 Main Points & Subpoints I. Believe – Jesus is the Life (v. 4) Jesus is the source of all life – physical and spiritual. (John 1:4, John 14:6) Life comes from God, not from random chance. (Romans 1:20, Colossians 1:16-17) Without Jesus, we are spiritually dead. (Ephesians 2:1-5, John 5:24) True life is eternal life, found only in Christ. (1 John 5:11-12) II. Believe – Jesus is the Light of Men (v. 4, 9) Light represents truth, purity, and guidance. (Psalm 119:105, John 8:12) Jesus reveals spiritual reality and exposes sin. (John 3:19-21, 2 Corinthians 4:4) Without Christ, people are spiritually blind. (Matthew 13:13, 2 Corinthians 4:4) Jesus as the Light brings clarity and direction. (John 12:46, Isaiah 9:2) III. Believe – Jesus is Unconquerable (v. 5) Darkness cannot overcome or extinguish Jesus. (John 1:5, John 16:33) The world resists Christ, but He prevails. (John 3:19, Colossians 2:15) Persecution and opposition cannot stop the Gospel. (Acts 4:20, Philippians 1:12-14) Christ’s light remains victorious. (Isaiah 60:1-2, Revelation 21:23) IV. Believe – There Are Witnesses (vv. 6-8) John the Baptist was a witness pointing to Jesus. (John 1:6-8, John 1:29) Christians today are called to testify about Christ. (Matthew 5:14-16, Acts 1:8) God always provides witnesses to reveal His truth. (Romans 10:14-15, 1 Peter 3:15) We must be faithful in sharing the Light. (2 Corinthians 5:20, 1 Corinthians 9:16) Discussion Questions & Answers What does it mean that Jesus is the Life? Jesus is the source of all life, both physical and spiritual. True life is found in Him alone (John 14:6). Why is Jesus called the Light of men? Jesus reveals truth, exposes sin, and provides direction for life (John 8:12). What does John mean when he says the darkness has not overcome the Light? Despite opposition, Jesus and His message remain victorious (John 1:5, Colossians 2:15). Who was John the Baptist, and why is he mentioned here? He was a prophet sent to prepare the way for Jesus and point others to Him (John 1:6-8). How can we be witnesses for Jesus today? By living in a way that reflects Christ and sharing the Gospel with others (Matthew 5:16, Acts 1:8). Further Study Suggestions Read John 8:12 – Jesus as the Light of the world. Study Isaiah 9:2 – The prophecy of light coming into darkness. Explore Ephesians 2:1-10 – Spiritual death and life in Christ. Meditate on 2 Corinthians 4:4-6 – The unveiling of the Gospel light. Life Application Personal Reflection: Do I truly believe that Jesus is my source of life? How does this belief shape my daily decisions? Evangelism & Witnessing: Who in my life needs to hear about Jesus as the Light? How can I be a faithful witness? Overcoming Darkness: What struggles or “darkness” am I facing? How can I trust in Jesus' unconquerable light? Living in the Light: Am I walking in the light or still holding on to areas of spiritual darkness? Closing Encouragement: Jesus is the Life and the Light. We are called to believe in Him, trust in His power over darkness, and be faithful witnesses. Let us reflect His light in our daily lives, bringing hope to those around us.
