I, along with many of my girlfriends know all to well what it's like to be fatherless. But, on this episode of Yasssss, Hunni I talk to three men who are staying around for that crazy ride in the life of a girl. They all have girls and are playing critical roles in their lives. Growing up, I've often said not having a father didn't effect me. Boy, was I wrong. In this episode, I learned a lot about what fathers teach girls and what we as 'girls' teach them. Most of all I learned just how much fathers matter.

I know he's a platinum-selling artist, a Grammy-award winning singer, producer, writer. I know he has six boys -- and yes, I said SIX. And I know he has southern roots, raised in Charlotte, NC.  In this interview, I got to know  the 'other' Anthony. The one who is really sensitive and has an unbelievable amount of courage. I even got to know the Anthony who wasn't afraid to share a tender moment he had with his mom that became a defining moment in his life.     We met at a rally held at Black church. I’d seen her before as the spicy blonde who was bold enough to sit down with some of the most notorious gang members in the city and not flinch. But, that’s Molly Grantham. The Emmy award-winning journalist and television anchor is currently one of only a handful of female TV anchors in the country not only leading the 11pm newscast, but who is also calling the shots. She’s an author, mother of 3 and a wife.  She uses her celebrity and passion to serve as a beacon of light for cancer survivors and those who have lost the battle like four of her own family members. But, she's so much more than a celebrity - she's  a great friend who knows too well how to tell a story. I was too excited that she chose to share hers with  me.

I say 'unique' because his inspiration, his positive energy, and even his testimony all came at a time when the world needed it.  It's one of triumph, pain, drug addiction, forgiveness mixed in with healing and philanthropy. Michael Colyer is known for the mantra "hard to ignore, impossible to forget."  To me, he is a "Preacher-in-the-making" who has a word to deliver.

    National Comedian Tone X Up Close & Personal

    As a comedian, he's naturally a funny guy. But, he has a very serious side, too. And his unique ability to 'switch it up' will sometimes catch you off-guard. He's one of the few comedians I know who can share intimate moments about his life and family,  explain the deeper meaning of 'Ramadan', then turn around and masterfully create a joke about all of it. They say most comedians choose the profession to hide their true pain or to find a way to escape from it. Many of the greats have done it and thrive. Though I've known him for over 20 years, it was refreshing to know another side of Tone X whom I've grown to love and call a friend.

    Former Inmate Leaves Cell To Answer Call To Start Dope Duffle Upscale Bags

    Aaron Simmons isn't a stranger to athletic gear or athletes. He's a former athletic trainer with big dreams. He always wanted to design apparel and had the talent and education to do it.  But, instead found himself in a prison cell. That's when his story of creating the DOPE DUFFLE brand began. Today, he's one of the few African-Americans who has created travel and athletic bags that are upscale and odor-resistant. He's just opened a third location and is planning for more expansion.  Who knew he'd birth his concept in two rather unconventional ways - one night in his jail cell, the other through a friend working on a less savory career path. I was excited to share his story of perseverance and faith.

    Have you ever met a couple who's energy you could sense was divinely made? Such is the case with Roslyn and Ray Singleton. The two met at a party that neither one wanted to attend. Seventy-two hours together, they were in love and haven't been apart since. Not even her two bouts with brain cancer could pull them apart. In fact, it was the cancer they brought them even closer. Today, she's cancer-free. She proudly states it was God and the love of her husband, who serenaded her in a video. That video went viral and landed them a spot on popular "Ellen" daytime TV talk show. I got a chance to talk about them about that ugly disease, having no fear and what's next. Let's go on a love ride!
