My name is Rabbi Matt Schneeweiss, and this is the hub for all of my shiurim (classes) on Tefilah (Prayer) and related topics, such as Tehilim (Psalms) and Berachos (Blessings)! The shiurim I upload here are given in a variety of formats with different lengths and intended for different audiences. Tehilim 93: Hashem Moloch REDUX (Part 1)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 1 minute Synopsis: This evening (6/10/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we began the final perek in our "Kabbalas Shabbos" series: the short and thematically-difficult-to-pin-down Psalm 93! Translation didn't take long, so we were able to pitch several theories. I did my best to share my own, but knew going in that more work was necessarily. As Hashem's will would have it, this did NOT end up being our last shiur of the year. We'll give it another go next week (בג"ה). ----- מקורות: תהלים צג Artscroll Neima Novetsky Robert Alter מצודת דוד אבן עזרא - פירוש שני רש"י רד"ק - תהלים צב אדון עולם ----- The Torah content for this month has been sponsored by Meir Areman, l'zeicher nishmas Zelda bas Ziesel, his grandmother, whose yahrzeit is on the 21st of Sivan. ----- If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider supporting my work via Patreon, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal — links below. Tehilim 92: Mizmor Shir l'Yom ha'Shabbos REDUX (Part 3)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 5 minutes Synopsis: This evening (6/3/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we completed our learning of the Radak's commentary on our perek. After reviewing what we covered last time - the first six pesukim - we delved into the critical seventh pasuk which opened up his whole approach. We then finished learning [the critical parts of] his commentary, stepped back, and compared it with our own analysis, emphasizing the thematic and practical differences. I had to do everything in my power to resist bringing in ideas from the Rambam on Iyov, which would be appropriate but would necessarily fail to do them justice. All in all, I'm super happy with how our learning of this perek went. As I mention at the end of the shiur, this is perhaps the BEST introductory perek to Tehilim - the contents, the method, and the benefits. I can't wait until the next time I learn it! ----- מקורות: תהלים צב רד"ק רמב"ם פירוש המשניות - ברכות ט:ה רמב"ם - מורה הנבוכים ג:כג איוב לג ----- The Torah content for this month has been sponsored by Meir Areman, l'zeicher nishmas Zelda bas Ziesel, his grandmother, whose yahrzeit is on the 21st of Sivan. ----- If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider supporting my work via Patreon, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal — links below. Tehilim 92: Mizmor Shir l'Yom ha'Shabbos REDUX (Part 2)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 1 minute Synopsis: This evening (5/27/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we began by reviewing the text and our questions. We then spent the rest of shiur learning the Radak's commentary on the first six pesukim, with forays into the Meiri, Rambam, and R' Avraham ben ha'Rambam. I COULD have rushed in order to finish the perek today, but there were so many delicious ideas in the Radak's commentary that I wanted to savor. Our goal next time will be to learn through his commentary on the second half, and then arrive at a unified understanding. ----- מקורות: תהלים צב רד"ק מאירי רד"ק - בראשית ב:ג נוסח אשכנז - ברכת יוצר של שבת רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תשובה י:ג רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות יסודי התורה הקדמה; ד:יא-יג ר' אברהם בן הרמב"ם - המספיק לעובדי השם ----- The Torah content for this month has been sponsored by Meir Areman, l'zeicher nishmas Zelda bas Ziesel, his grandmother, whose yahrzeit is on the 21st of Sivan. ----- If you've gained from what you've learned here, please consider supporting my work via Patreon, Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal — links below. Tehilim 92: Mizmor Shir l'Yom ha'Shabbos REDUX (Part 1)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 9 minutes Synopsis: This evening (5/13/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we began our analysis of the Shir shel Yom of Shabbos. I gave shiur on this a long time ago (November 2020), but since we've been learning through all the "Kabbalas Shabbos" perakim, and this is the centerpiece, we had to take it up once again! Tonight, we translated the perek, raised a ton of questions, and came up with our own approaches. I shared my own approach, inspired by advice from my rebbi, Rabbi Moskowitz zt"l, and by a passage in the Kuzari. Next time (the week after Shavuos, בג"ה), we'll take up one of the meforshim. ----- מקורות: תהלים צב מצודת ציון תרגום כתובים רבינו יונה - אבות ב:ה מצודת דוד - תהלים צ:א רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות תשובה ח:ב ר' יהודה הלוי - כוזרי ג:יא ----- The Torah content for the month of Iyyar is sponsored by Naomi Schwartz Rothschild in memory of her mother, Breindel Bracha bas Mordechai z"l, whose yahrzeit falls on the 8th of Iyyar. Tehilim 105-106: A Psalmist's Sipur Yetzias Mitzrayim? (Part 3 - Our Approach to 106)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 2 minutes Synopsis: This evening (4/29/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we briefly reviewed our approach to 105, then tackled 106. We reread the whole thing, raised questions and problems - mostly on the intro and outro - and then started theorizing. Not only did we develop a solid approach for 106, but we also managed to unify it with 105! We may devote one more session to this perek, but even if we don't, I'm content with what we've gained! ----- מקורות: תהלים קו הגדה של פסח - ברכת הגאולה בראשית יח:יז-יט רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר קדושה, הלכות איסורי ביאה יד:א,א ב' מלכים כא:י-טו ----- The Torah content for the month of Iyyar is sponsored by Naomi Schwartz Rothschild in memory of her mother, Breindel Bracha bas Mordechai z"l, whose yahrzeit falls on the 8th of Iyyar. Tehilim 105-106: A Psalmist's Sipur Yetzias Mitzrayim? (Part 2 - Radak on 105)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 3 minutes Synopsis: This evening (4/22/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we briefly reviewed the translation of 105, asked a few more questions, then set out to understand the Radak's approach. Our theory emerged from Radak's commentary on the first few pesukim, Rav Hirsch's commentary on the last pasuk, and our own ideas. Although we still can't say we have a complete theory on 105 until we learn 106, I'm happy with what we came up with, and I'm looking forward to tackling 106! ----- מקורות: רד"ק - תהלים קה:א-ט א' דברי הימים טז:א-לו רמב"ם - משנה תורה: ספר המדע, הלכות יסודי התורה ח:א ר' ש"ר הירש תהלים קה:א ----- The Torah content for the month of Iyyar is sponsored by Naomi Schwartz Rothschild in memory of her mother, Breindel Bracha bas Mordechai z”l, whose yahrzeit falls on the 8th of Iyyar. Tehilim 105-106: A Psalmist's Sipur Yetzias Mitzrayim? (Part 1 - Translation and Questions)

Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 3 minutes Synopsis: What if I told you that we're going to take up TWO perakim of Tehilim, totaling 93 pesukim? You'd probably think, "This is gonna take MONTHS!" Well, I've long said that one of the tricks to learning Tehilim is to not lose the forest for the trees. These two perakim which I learned over Pesach put that principle to the test. They're long but their structure will make it easy for us to separate the details from the big picture. They're clearly meant to be complementary, and I think it'll be best if we learn them together. This evening (4/15/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we read through both of them back to back and raised some initial questions. (I decided to translate them in advance instead of doing it in shiur, which proved to be a good decision!) Next time, we'll tackle one or both in-depth.  ----- מקורות: הגדה של פסח מיוחס לרש"י - הגדה של פסח תהלים קה-קו תהלים עח ----- The Torah content for the month of Nisan has been sponsored by Rivkie and Dovi Siderson. Have any questions, insights, or feedback? Send me a text! Length: 1 hour 1 minute Synopsis: This evening (3/25/26), in our Wednesday night Tehilim shiur, we began with the Radak's comments on the "ki le'olam chasdo" refrain, followed by a brief comment by Sforno's student on the fine-tuning of the universe, and then spent the rest of the shiur learning the Malbim's approach. We had a brief detour into an angel-related Haggadah topic, but stayed pretty much on track after that. We definitely came up with AN approach.
