Season 1: The Relationship Season, Episode 2; Know Yourself!

From Changing to the Right Mindset about relationships, we move into knowing ourselves. You may ask, this is a relationship season, not a self assessment or motivation series, so why do we have to know ourselves? The answer is simple. A relationship involves two MATURE individuals ( in everyway). To be mature means to have fully attained development in thinking, Wisdom, appearance and everything that makes up an individual. It is alarming to see the number of teenagers that think having a relationship is just right for them. There are too many things involved in a relationship that could easily drain them and they become like chaff scattered in the winds of Life. They can't be judged as mature even if they feel so. Why then does society encourage relationships among teenagers? That's a talk for another day anyway... A mature person knows himself and so will not be interested in frivolities. Such a person will be interested in partner that can complement him/her. A partner that can work together to achieve a common goal. Not a partner that drags both their lives backward. It is a fact that two like minds, elements, entities, attract. So why not in terms of a relationship? Not knowing oneself on the other hand can lead to a lot of time wastage, wrong partner choices and traumas. Based majorly on Scriptures, listen to the second step needed in achieving the right relationship... Pray. Pursue. Preserve. Season 1: The Relationship Season; Episode 1 The Right Mindset

Even Martin Luther had many things to say about marriage. Here is one of them, 'Marriage is the GOD-appointed and legitimate union of man and woman in the hope of having children or at least for the purpose of avoiding fornication and sin and living to the Glory of GOD.' He knew why men and women should get togetherโ€”to fulfill purpose! He knew that a relationship is not a funfair. It's not something to start without thinking. It is something to pay utmost attention to. Relationships cannot just start! There is a gradual build up to it. It is supposed to be the stage just before marriage. It is such a sensitive stage and it mustn't be treated trivially. Real friendships should exist before relationships bloom. It doesn't work like in the music videos where they become a wonderful couple after they bump into each other... It's Valentine's again and many are set to get it wrong without this resolve or at the very least, knowledge! Last year, Love and relationships were talked about in relation to Valentine's Day. This year, it came to be understood that unless the mind is reset and the whole attitude to relationships changes, there may not be an effective shift in the way people view Love, relationships and Valentine's Day. Let's discuss how to straighten our mentalities and actions about relationships, shall we? REFERENCES 1. Episode 27: Why do People Cheat anyway?

Cheating, that taboo-like phenomenon which people often cringe from discussing. Cheating, also called infidelity, deceit, unfaithfulness, trickery, unfairness and lying... Cheating has lived with man for as long as men have existed. Some people have a mindset to cheat at anything including relationships/marriages. In this episode, cheating is examined both in other spheres of Life and in the place of relationships and marriages. From a very recent research, it was gathered that: 'Around two thirds of participants (62.8 percent) admitted to expressing affection toward their new partner. And about the same proportion (61.2 percent) engaged in sexually explicit dialogue with them. Roughly four out of 10 (37.6 percent) had intimate conversations, while one in 10 (11.1 percent) said, โ€œI love you.โ€ Those who reported feeling less connected to their primary partner experienced greater emotional intimacy in the affair, perhaps as a way of fulfilling that need. Similarly, when infidelity was linked to lack of love, individuals found the experience more intellectually and emotionally satisfying. Participantsโ€™ satisfaction with sex differed depending on the reason for their affair. People reported feeling more sexually fulfilled when they cheated because of desire, lack of love or a need for variety. Those who cited a situation as the primary cause were far less satisfied. Much of the sexual activity was limited to kissing (86.7 percent) and cuddling (72.9 percent). In fact, the study found that only half of the cheaters reported having vaginal intercourse.' After all this, I'd like us to get this straight, cheating is still bad no matter the reason...
