It's so lovely to see you. Happy full moon. Stirling 2:41 So today, we are so excited to be talking about cleansing in a general sense. And in a much more specific sense. We for those of you who've tuned in before, we've talked about how we've done it wrong, how we have both done it very wrong, and how detrimental that can be to your health. And so today, we are going to pull from our collective wisdom and trial and error and talk about ways that we can cleanse ourselves all the different levels of ourselves that can also be very nourishing and regenerative and not totally crash and burn your own cycles. Yep. So on that note, why why should we cleanse? What is cleansing? Hillary 3:51 Are you asking me are you? You go? Okay, cool. Sorry. I was like looking something up really like I'm, like, on this top on this subject matter is you're so prepared. I'm super prepared. But also I wanted to make sure I was like gonna say things in the right order. Because I think I think order of cleansing is incredibly important. And it's something like not everybody talks about one cleansing. So, yeah, you asked why is cleansing important? Correct? Yeah. So life gets really intense. And I think you know, life just goes and things happen and we get bogged down by things, but especially in this century that we're in. There's a lot happening and a lot, a lot of input. And when there's like too much excess input through all of our senses, we just get overloaded and our systems get like bogged down and like Gumby almost like like Mind, Body spirit kind of overwhelmed. And so, cleansing is like needed in order to reverse that. Because the clear of a channel We are the clear life becomes. And I think that's like the ultimate. The ultimate reason for cleansing is like, we want to feel clear and light and connected and vibrant and happy. Like that, I think is ultimately why people seek out cleansing is when you start feeling like heavy, lethargic, overwhelmed. That is, those are all signs, it's time to cleanse. So that's why it's important. So you can feel happy and light and vibrant. Did I answer that question? Or do you want me to go deeper into it? You answered a question Really? Well, Stirling 5:57 I think that's perfect. I think also, for those of us that tend towards, like maybe the more manic end of the spectrum. Sometimes when I need to cleanse I sometimes I feel like I need to cleanse something about my reality or my body or myself or my mind when I'm feeling lethargic, like you said, but a lot of times, I'm actually further on the end towards the kind of overwhelm that comes with burnout or with like too much, or it's like a frazzled feeling really, like short circuiting electrically. And so cleansing is a way to, like re work the wiring. So the electricity isn't just frying me. Hillary 6:45 Yes, totally. And I think like, that's a really important part because there is a very intricate dance between cleansing and nourishing. And I feel like a lot of us like you're definitely not alone in that like frazzled, frizzle nervy kind of situation, especially with like caffeine and hustle culture. And I think a lot of times people think that they need to cleanse their body because they're feeling that. But really nourishment is needed on the level of the body. And cleansing is needed on the level of like to do lists and mental stimulation. Stirling 7:28 That's brilliant. That's really, really important. Because getting those two things backwards. Like I have done this before, I've gotten those two things backwards and thought, oh, what's going to help me get more centered is to focus on cleaning out my body, when actually that's not the level at which the overwhelm is happening. And I would be able to handle the mental or emotional or spiritual overlap whelm better if I had more support, physically, more grounding, more nutrients, more vitamins coming into my body to help my brain work better and actually doing something that's considered cleansing, but is depleting my stores can make it way worse. Hillary 8:11 Right? Exactly, exactly. And like, what's been so popular, mainstream for a lot for a long time, meaning like, at least in my realm, like the last like five to 10 years has been actually like 10 years for sure has been like juice cleansing and purification and all of these different things, which there is definitely time in place for purification of the physical body. I do think it is really important to, you know, have like timeouts and time to cleanse. But I think more often than not, the people that are cleansing on that level are actually meeting like what we just talked about. And so we can talk about what that looks like. Stirling 8:57 Yes, yes. Let's talk about what that what that looks like. And that's so interesting, because I personally attempted to do the Master Cleanse because I agreed with it philosophically or on principle, or it sounded like a great idea to me. And I didn't make it past the first couple days because I'm hypoglycemic, and I tend towards mania and I have a really fast metabolism and I'm super Vata, Vata, Pitta and I was basically on the verge of passing out which is fun for like 20 minutes and then it's not fun anymore. Hillary 9:37 Yeah, yeah, that's so real. Yeah, I've definitely done the Master Cleanse before as well and did it in a really hilarious way which I'm we should definitely talk about these stories. But the short version is that I did the Master Cleanse. I did it for 10 days. I did like if people don't know The master cleanses it's where you make this this lemonade basically it's like water with lemon and cayenne and maple syrup. And it's really delicious It's lemonade is is really yummy. It's delicious but if you're if we are talking in like terms of IR VEDA and Sterling here is very much Vata, Pitta, which is air and fire. And if you add spicy lemonade, which is like fire fiery and also very light then over time she's just like driving her imbalance deeper and deeper. Same for me I am also I'm we have different like subtleties of our Constitution, but on a general level where both Vata Vata, Pitta, air, air and fire in space. And yes, I did that cleanse, I did it for 10 days, I ended the cleanse in the high desert, and I took acid on the last day, and rock climbed for about eight hours. Oh my god, Stirling 11:08 how did you physically do that? Maybe you didn't, maybe you were hosting. Hillary 11:15 No, I physically did it. I physically did it. And I felt great. So I thought, and that's the problem is like, sometimes these like very high, high chronic states or like high energy states. We feel really good in the moment. But and this is like when we're younger, it's like we have these stores and reserves of energy. And we were not educated around this. And so we're actually like severely depleting ourselves. But in the moment, you feel very high, and it feels very good. And you feel very connected to everything Stirling 11:52

And I am about to ask Hillary something amazing her I your vitta course what are you calling my course I Aveda 101 know yourself heal yourself. It just launched last week, and I got to be a part of it. Because I am very lucky girl. And I was absolutely enthralled. I thought I knew things about myself and I are vieta. And in general going into it. And it was just the first day of a basic introductory course. And I learned so much. And one of the things that really stuck out to me actually didn't have anything to do at all with AI or veto. It had to do with how Hillary held the space for the course. And that is the set of house rules that she created an introduced to us that I think is absolutely fantastic. And if all of human society managed to operate this way, we would absolutely transcend this reality and everything would be like instantaneous manifestation and everyone would be totally their most awesome self. And we'd all just have a lot more fun. So on the way to actualize the humanity at such a level, we're introducing the house rules here on the wild magic podcast and in our wild magic membership program. So I feel like whenever we start new things we need, we need like stability and foundation to build upon. And so I actually adopted these house rules from a couple different people and combined them and one person is my love want my really good friend and my roommate, our housemate rather, Jessie fresh who teaches about erotic blueprints and she has learned to from her teacher Giant that always always you start with pleasure. So pleasure. First, I just want to give a shout out to the people that I have adopted them first, and then we can jump into it. And then this other woman, Kylie, Kylie mcbeath. I think that's how you say her last name. And she is married to mark groves. And they, they do a lot of relational work on like healthy relationships. And I, when I've heard her talk, she kind of gives these this breakdown of house rules. So together, I've combined them, along with a little bit of my own own flair to it. And so yeah, I think they're really, really important and really valuable. So the first one, like I said, is pleasure first, and to always, always take care of yourself. And that's like, you know, I was introducing it in, in the course that we started a six week course. And it's all over zoom. And so we're all spending a ton of time on computers and, and that can be just really challenging in and of itself. But this can really be applied to anything like when you're at work when you're, you know, I don't know, what do you think like when you're Stirling 6:16 doing anything, being a human when you're being a human being embodied? I mean, okay, and now I feel like I'm being exclusive, because obviously, if you're in spiritual beings, like you are totally allowed to put pleasure first as well. So let's just say, experience, like in the all experience at any time, if we could operate from this place, in along with the following rules, it's actually really important. Any one of these could get out of balance. But there's, you'll understand, as you listen further to how Hillary introduces the concepts, they work synergistically, so please don't like jump down the comment hole of weird things that happen when people put pleasure before everything else, because we're not saying pleasure before everything else, we're saying put pleasure first, synergistically along with all of these other rules, which are just as important, even though they were not primarily introduced. Because the idea is that if you come from the route of experiencing pleasure, you're gonna be in a better mood, and it will be easier to undertake all of these other actions. They're not even necessarily actions, all of these other principles. Okay, continue. Yes, exactly. Thank you. Hillary 7:37 So with pleasure first, that can mean anything, it can mean really simple things, but like, always, always tuning into your body and what you need first, do you need to use the bathroom? Do you need some water? Do you need to stretch like, Are you feeling achy? Do you need to do a little movement. And this can literally like I said, be applied anywhere, if you're working and your neck is sore, like just giving yourself like a little massage for a second, just like attending to your body and what you need to be and then move through with a more pleasure in flight from a more pleasurable state. So that's just like taking care of yourself, and making sure you'll feel good, like base level, and Stirling 8:21 everyone up sorry, everyone, imagine how much more tuned in and capable and productive and successful you would have felt as a child in school and other organized activities. If you were allowed to listen to your needs first. And you didn't have to raise your hand and ask publicly to take care of your bodily functions, just how fundamentally disempowering from a young age is that talk about being indoctrinated and domesticated. So let's rewind, let's reverse all that very early, super basic and continuous year upon year upon year of trauma of not being allowed to listen to yourself. And everyone remember, you have permission and also the autonomous right to take care of your personal needs first, so that you may feel in a state of pleasure. Yes. Hillary 9:23 Perfect. And that's something to like talks about and I or VEDA is like there I think it's something like there's like 13 natural urges are something but I can't remember the exact number I'm pretty sure it's 13 natural urges and, and that's like using the bathroom or like passing gas or like burping or things like that, that are just like our bodies do. And by not doing those we are causing our bodies just like innate harm by not letting our bodies be body. It's so pleasure for us long story short, the next one is no Shame. So, especially like in this realm that we're talking in about health and wellness, and we all have bodies and minds, while also we're just talking about being energetic beings, maybe they're listening to. But I'm like, we all have bodies in minds that do things that sometimes we wish that they wouldn't do, like our bodies are having experiences that we wish could be different or same with our minds, like thinking or feeling things that we don't want. And I think it's a really important thing to recognize that everyone is having this experience on some level. And so as we talk about health and wellness, like moving forward, it's really important to come from a place of no shame. Like we're all in it, we're all having it. And, and talking about this can bring up a lot, a lot, a lot of emotion. Especially if you're in a place that you wish that you weren't or you wish you were like further along with whatever with whatever you're wanting in your life. So super important to come from that space. And, and then the next one is, so no pedestals. And this is like, very, very important to me. When I started learning about IR VEDA, I put my teachers on these very high pedestals, and I was like, oh, they're so spiritual, and they're so enlightened. And like these wisdom keepers and us incredible beings that I'm so far away from, I am very far down here, and they're very much up there. And with that, is very damaging. Like, really, we're all on these different paths, we all have experience from our experiences, like, we're all learning in different ways. And we all have these lessons that arrive in different ways. But one is not better than the other. And just because someone has a certain spiritual path or speaks a certain way, or dresses a certain way, or teaches a certain body of knowledge does not mean that they are better than you or that you are better than them or lesser than them or vice versa. And once I really recognize this, that like, Oh, this teacher that seems so like spiritually high to me, is actually really just human with very human traits and like, ways of being, and actually we're just equal and also in different places, but not better, where it's not higher or lower. Like that helps me realize that I get to like, navigate my world as I am. I have a sketchbook full of designs and I'm sure you have more than one sketchbook full of designs but I really would love to do that. So yes, okay. We should probably make them like the self fulfilling print on demand, like or downloadable design kind and not something that we actually Have to mail to people because I am abysmal at actually mailing things to people. Hillary 5:08 It takes so much time I do it with my art prints. And I'm like, this is all of the time. Stirling 5:15 Yeah, like maybe just don't do that, like maybe just sell your art of digital downloads, and never ever ever have to deal with package fulfillment. Also, adult coloring books, that's a thing. Oh, yeah, have like scans or pictures of your line drawings before you fill them in so beautifully and your amazing artwork that you make that no one's listening to the podcast can see because this is an audio format. But in case you didn't know Hillary makes really pretty things with like, physical medium, like, I don't know, watercolors. What do you use? Hillary 5:51 Yeah, watercolors and oils. And yes, I should do more of that. And I'm super down to do more of that great idea. And you'll be my manager. Stirling 6:01 I'm really good at ideas. Yeah, that's my strong suit. Okay, so today is Friday. It doesn't really matter because this will exist for forever and eternity. But in case you're wondering when this recording was made, it was happening on a Friday. Stirling 6:36 Yeah, Friday, that's Freitas day. We're both hella Germanic. So that means something in the ancestral lineage right there. Although you know what's really interesting, so I'm talking about Freya, who is the goddess of beauty she's like really similar to Aphrodite, in Norse Pantheon. So like Northern Europe region, they conquered a lot of people. So she has been a lot of great places. But the strange thing is even though Freya is part of the integral, core Pantheon and like Norse and Germanic lore, and has a lot of parallels to Aphrodite, and Venus, etc. In the Norse Pantheon, it's actually acknowledged that Freya was a goddess that came from somewhere else and all the Norse god, the acier liked her so much. And she was so beautiful, and she was the one in charge of the golden apples that like gave youth and beauty and vague pseudo immortality to the gods because they weren't actually immortal, but they could eat free as golden apples and sort of be immortal, that they kept her there like you can be part of our Pantheon even though you come from somewhere else that's so long ago that no one really knows where that's from. Like even in the folklore they specifically say, we took this goddess from some other culture and put her in our array of goddesses because she's that dad. When I heard that much like i think you know, we don't care where you came from girl you're pretty comfortable with pink we wear pink on Wednesdays we wear pink. And Fridays phrase day, I mean, some people might argue and say it's phrase day and that's her twin. But please, Friday's phrase day, Come at me, bro, come at me. Hillary 8:22 Oh, man, your your head full of knowledge is quite something. That's another trait of autism and girls. info dump my special interest. Doesn't matter if no one else can read their facial cues anyway. There was a little lag in that that sounded those slightly insane. But I don't know if that was because there was a lag. Let's be honest. Yes, Stirling 8:57 I have much much of the informations so good about very particular things than being one of those things. Perfect. Hillary 9:09 Okay, speaking of all of the things and the information, what do you want to do first you want to do like the interest outras and talking about like our stories, or like and follow that train? Or do you want to do like a little clip on the dreams and things like that first? What do you want to do first? I don't care. And then I think that'll like warm us up and then we'll do intros and outros. Let's do it so that we like then we can kind of like get the energy flowing just like you were talking about. So Hillary, Stirling 11:00 in our last podcast, and potentially future podcasts, and maybe also books and courses that we are creating. You talk a lot about nutrition, and you give advice, why should anyone listen to your advice? and well being? Hillary 11:17 Well, I guess first of all, I would even say, maybe kid, but all mimili Take care. Because I think that is the essence of what I want to like, convey to people in my teachings of like, use this information to return back to yourself and your own inner knowledge and knowing about what feels right. And that can be really confusing if you're like, in this soupy mess of information. So I think, yeah, I think the part to listen to is the simplification and feeling what is resonating with you on a, like, less surface level of like, Oh, this is information that I need to like, use to be healthy and like falling back into yourself? I mean, like, does this actually feel good? I'm going to try this out. And I'm going to experiment with my health because just following one person or train of thought, or nutrition advice, I don't think about the answer at all, to any of the questions, or any of the questions. And yeah, it's like, hard and esoteric, but at the same time, it's not like, when we're little kids, we know what we want, we put something in our mouth, we like it, we don't, we want to wear certain things, we want to express a certain way, then we learn that all of our ways maybe are not right, or whatever we learn as we grow, and then I think as we become adults, we take back our autonomy and sovereignty in our choices. And when we return to Our little kid knowing selves. So hopefully, hopefully, we all do, hopefully, that's the goal is returning to our own knowing. So if you're going to take my advice, I advise you not to take my advice. And to listen for what feels right for you. And do those things and follow follow your inner path. And maybe I can help inspire a little bit of that. And

I think there's such a big focus on food and nutrition like in mainstream, especially on social media, like cleansing and exercising. And it seems to be like that's where we just think that we need to cleanse but I think it's really layered. And I think we also need to cleanse our space and cleanse our mind and cleanse our emotions like it's like a bigger, deeper, broader topic than just food and exercise. Stirling 3:56 So true. Yes, I agree. I noticed the knock on effect as well for myself. Personally, I noticed how much it helps me if I clear the clutter off my desk or I'm a I'm a Pilar I create Kyle's of you know, I lived in your house, I create a pile of strange things that I magnetize into weird little sculptures of life. And when I even just if I move the piles around when I consciously clear a space physically, I am way more able to approach a new topic or get my head around a thought form I personally had on a really intense journey with diet, and orthorexia, really, and being obsessed with eating. Hillary 4:52 And they say that last part again because it cut out you said orthorexia and being obsessed with eating and obsessed with eating too healthy Stirling 4:59 I'm really understanding that I actually damaged my organs by not being in balance. And I know that that's your specialty is the mind body balance and how important diet is to that. So it's interesting to hear you talk about how you think there's actually too much focus on diet when it comes to actually being able to fully cleanse. So I am super intrigued to hear your take on that. Hillary 5:24 Yeah, I, I had the same issue too, with like being so obsessed with being so pure and so clean and so healthy. That it, it caused a ton of food allergies for me, and like a really reduced diet, which then, over time depleted, like you said, my organs and it messed up my hormones, and all of that. And so, definitely on the journey of recovery, from many years of almost being, like too obsessed with how I think it's an eating disorder, Stirling 5:57 I really do. It's like, absolutely detrimental, psychologically, emotionally, and physically and so common in the circles that we've run in. And really, it's, it's an eating disorder that is okay to encourage. And that I think is really dangerous, especially if the social media stuff not actually great for everyone, and ketosis is your body responding to trauma and eating itself. And that might be effective. Hillary 6:32 But that doesn't mean it's healthy. Right? Right. And I'm like, maybe we should just talk about this for a minute. Which is, this actually seems like a really, really common denominator and things that I see. And yeah, like you said, like when our body starts eating itself, basically, it, it feels good because you lose weight. And maybe you do have like, some clarity and things like that, because your body is literally eating. Stirling 7:04 Right, and we call it clarity, retrospective, retrospectively speaking, that's mania. That's what being in a manic episode feels like. That's what like a hypoglycemia high, is, it's not really a clarity of thought. It's your body boosting your cortisol and adrenaline and going, Hillary 7:26 Oh, s**t, do something. This isn't good. Yeah, exactly. And over time, you're just you just get used to being in a constant state of stress and trauma and like chaos. For what, like, a couple less pounds, maybe Stirling 7:44 a couple less pounds, a couple more followers, a couple good Instagram posts, a couple smaller bikini sizes. I don't even know. For me, it's interesting because it It wasn't specifically about losing weight. So I didn't identify that it was a problem. Because for me, it was an obsession about not putting dirty things in my body, because I wanted to be healthy and clean. So I was making this really intense judgment about what was good to eat and what was bad to eat. And I was judging other people about that, too. But I thought because it wasn't about how am I going to look, it was about how am I going to be how healthy Am I going to be that I didn't understand how much I was damaging myself and I would make the choice to not eat if there wasn't a healthy option on a very regular basis that I could eat. That was healthy enough. And so I was basically choosing to starve myself, but because I wasn't doing that because I wanted to look thin. I didn't make the connection that that's like really unhealthy. Yeah, and actually like that, and a little bit crazy. Hillary 9:06 Totally. And yeah, I 100% agree with you. And I think he is kind of this like way of disordered eating. Like you said you didn't see it because it was more of like a mental process less for your physical body. And I think it can really happen in ways of like mind, body and spirit. I know that for many years of studying IR VEDA, it affected me on a really deep like spirit level where I had so much guilt around like, I can't eat anything aside from a very yogic pure diet, because of the karma that I will take on because of that. But because of that I was highly undernourished. And then, like I didn't have any energy, and so I went for really dense Sleep dense high energy calories. I didn't I wasn't consciously doing that. But I ate so much not not in seed butters. So, cow, because so much. Yeah, because it's like, it's pure and it's a plant food and it's healthy. It's healthy, but actually not in the quantity like we're not meant to consume that mentioned that since. And I would easily put down half a jar of nut or seed butter in a day, like me to 100% every day, every day. And to smoothies, I could go through a half a day. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah, it's crazy. And like, I was a, I was a raw food chef. And I was so obsessed with health for years. And I, I developed allergies to every food that I worked with, like, almost every night in seed, to where my body at one point, I was eating something with almonds in it. And suddenly my body like flushed with this really intense feeling. And I felt like I was so itchy that it was like my blood. Like I couldn't, I couldn't actually it's on the surface because it was internally. Like I was so itchy internally, that I I scratched my skin on this meridian on the digestive meridian. I scratched it until I was bleeding. And I was like, okay, something is happening here. And so I got a food allergy test. And I was allergic to like a laundry list of foods that I worked with and ate every single day. So yeah, long story short, I think there's a huge issue with, like, the shame that comes like the shame that kind of pushes veganism, bringing it back to like the spiritual aspect of like, caught like causing no harm with your food, but in causing no harm to like, animals or anything like that is causing deep harm to myself. And then it's like this psycho spiritual concept of like, well, do I choose to continue to harm myself so as to save other beings? Or do I nourish myself, and which case to take of eating animal products, or whatever it Stirling 12:19 is chicken or the egg right there. That's guy old, I had a I had a similar experience. I haven't taken an allergy test that's really interesting that you actually have scientific results that show you know, under a shadow of a doubt that you should not be eating those things that constituted almost your entire diet. And so funny too, because to me, it was the nuts and seeds always my go to thing and cocoa crazy amounts of cacao. And that's ended up manifesting in basically liver and gallbladder damage. For me. I'm at the point where I cannot consume anything that has a high oxalic acid content without going into what's it called the Hicks Hicks smer reaction. The thing that happens when you're cleansing and your body basically goes haywire and you feel achy, like you have the flu, and you're going to die. Yeah, your skin's falling off. That happens to me. Now if I eat kale, which was another huge staple.
