Send us Fan Mail Register your free place for the live online meditation and Q&A with Babaji: https://www.shivarudrabalayogi.org/online-satsang  'Peace' — Ashtavakra Samhita Ch 18 vv 28 - 34 | In Quest of Truth - Babaji Q&A, No. 285 Recorded on 7 June 2026 with US participants 0:00 Intro 1:11 Verse 28.  "That one, having no distractions, has no need for meditation, neither aspiring for liberation nor being in bondage.." 2:15 What does it mean to have no distractions? 2:44 Do Yogis not have imaginations? 3:30 What is an imagination? 4:31 Are all thoughts imaginations? 4:41 So it's just the nature of consciousness, the creative nature of consciousness that gives rise to mind, which gives rise to thoughts, which gives rise to creation.  5:09 How does a Yogi function in the world without thoughts? 5:44 So if nature or creation needs to be dealt with, then it'll arise. Otherwise, it just stays silent? 6:48 The Truth as that which never changes, and which has always existed. 7:29 If a Yogi is in Supreme Peace all the time and free of desires, what motivates him or her to move or to act? 8:17 So, for a Yogi, the only motivation would be to help other people become Yogis? 8:37 "One who still has the ego-sense of 'I' acts even when not performing actions. The one who has no sense of 'I' does not act even when performing actions." 9:13 The Yogi spontaneously carrying out activity, as a witness, witnessing the whole thing? 9:48 A person will never become eternal, but they can realize they are Pure Consciousness, or Eternal Existence.  10:36 Verse 29, Babaji's comments. 11:06 Verse 30. "The consciousness of the liberated One is neither troubled nor pleased—actionless, motionless, desireless, free of all doubt.”  13:14 Is ignorance just the belief that consciousness is a body—that our existence is a body? 14:07 We are aware we exist even without thinking. 15:44  "Pure Consciousness exists in itself." 20:22 Are there any thoughts that can give liberation?  22:18 Verse 31. "The consciousness of the Liberated One has no aim to be meditative or to be active; it simply becomes meditative or active spontaneously." 23:36 If you had to give an identity of yourself, just for the sake of words and understanding, what would you say? How would you identify yourself? 25:26 "The Yogi remains quiet and does not experience any destiny mentally and watches as a witness." 26:46 Most people’s mind have something going on all the time, like imagining and remembering. 27:43 So, being involved in your thoughts constantly you're unable to see your Self? 28:58 Can a yogi have a desire? Could he wish something for the world? 29:57 The world is not because of our own desire or making? What produces it? 30:26 Verse 32. " On hearing the real truth spoken, an unreceptive, dull student might become bewildered. A more qualified student might withdraw his mind's activity as instructed, and might thus appear like a dull fool." 32:20 Verse 33.  "Those who are perplexed constantly practice concentration and control of the mind; but the Wise—abiding in the True Self —do not find any actions needing to be performed.” 35:19 Everybody nowadays has a means to post on the internet to tell the world about their mind, and it can get pretty bizarre. 36:12 So many mixed messages and gurus cropping up in today's world. 38:01 Verse 34. "Ignorant people do not attain peaceful happiness by either action or inaction; but for the Wise One simply knowing the Truth gives peaceful happiness."  38:18 What constitutes knowing? And can thoughts liberate a person? 39:14 The only way to know that Truth is to become Truth. You are that Truth. 39:47 In the gap between the relative and the absolute, knowingness of the Self can happen. 41:22 An unrealized person might think the absolute is a state of zero, but in fact it's a state of infinity? 42:20 Meaning of Satyam Shivam Sundaram. 42:53 Why doesn't the Self completely pervade our mind in spite of our ignorance? 45:30 How do I navigate the world knowing that it's all a lie? 48:14 How a Yogi shows compassion. 50:11 Is time also an imagination? 52:57 What is the purpose of God and this creation? 54:13 Can Yogis time travel? 55:00 What does one hour of perfection in meditation look like?  56:15 Why you must avoid moving the body in meditation. 57:53 Meditation without an external anchor. 1:00:02 Is it just time and meditation which helps to heal agitations, to forgive and forget? 1:01:40 If there is no time, there can be no time, even for imaginations. ___ Website: http://www.srby.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shivarudrabalayogi Twitter: https://twitter.com/SRBYmission Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shivarudrabalayogi/ Register your free place for the live online meditation and Q&A with Babaji: https://www.shivarudrabalayogi.org/en/online-satsang  Website: http://www.srby.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shivarudrabalayogi Twitter: https://twitter.com/SRBYmission Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shivarudrabalayogi/

It never actually stays in the middle, on the Self. 15:37 If it's beneficial to a larger cause, without getting mentally involved, the wise yogi does work mechanically. 17:37 There's no longer an individual imagined self? 18:18 What is it that makes a yogi to act if they are in supreme peace and always free of desires? 20:07 Once the yogi becomes aware that they are the Self, is the body's action just being carried on by the karma of the world, or of the creation? 21:18 You've liberated yourself, yet your body continues to serve humanity, by to trying to raise the consciousness. So isn't that just an act of the Self continuing to use your body? 22:12 Verse 21.  Easily, a yogi will have acceptance for the things that happen. 23:01 Verse 22.  "A yogi moves in this world without the universe registering in their consciousness." 24:11 There is neither joy nor sorrow, so what's left? 25:32 You are the space, but You are beyond the space? 26:45 Verse 23. Yogis have no resolutions in the mind. 28:17 How do you strength your faith? 28:56 Verse 24.  That One is not affected by either honor or dishonor. 29:49 Nothing really registers in a yogi's consciousness - but Babaji seems to be the most conscious and the most responsive person. 34:38 Verse 25. Consciously, A yogi never gets involved in the doership or undergoes any fruits or results of any karmas.  35:52 Verse 26.  Though they are simply acting, and in reality are not in this world's scheme. The yogi also never claims that they are acting. 39:20 Verse 27.  "Tired of thinking about many different things, the consciousness has settled peacefully, and neither thinks nor knows nor hears nor sees." 41:12 When the Self is fully realized, Self-Realization is complete and permanent a yogi can't fall from that state. Is that true? 43:23 At what point in your tapas had you reached the state of no return, the state of permanent Self-Realization? 44:55 During your tapas, Swamiji was taking you through celestial lokas and said, "Be careful, don't get attracted to any of this, or you could be here a long time". 48:22 When the acceptance and love for Swamiji was so strong, what could have been the ego that Swamiji was trying to get rid of in Babaji? 51:14 How does a guru realise there is ego in the disciple? 52:09 A feeling of when there is nothing to pay attention to, naturally it goes to the space. 54:05 When the thoughts go away in meditation, then what? 55:40 The mind merging with the Self. 56:18 Does Babaji as the guru operate differently to Babaji the man? 57:28 I fear that the last step in gaining enlightenment will never come. 58:33 When I concentrate between the eyebrows I get more thoughts.  If I concentrate on the space, I have less thoughts. 59:37 Before doing Tapas did you still have a sense of 'I'?   Website: http://www.srby.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shivarudrabalayogi Twitter: https://twitter.com/SRBYmission Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shivarudrabalayogi/ Register your free place for the live online meditation and Q&A with Babaji: https://www.shivarudrabalayogi.org/en/online-satsang  Website: http://www.srby.org Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/shivarudrabalayogi Twitter: https://twitter.com/SRBYmission Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shivarudrabalayogi/

A Realized Meditation Master, Shri Babaji (Shri Shivarudra Balayogi Maharaj), answers questions from people around the world on meditation and spirituality. His spontaneous answers are based on the wisdom gained from his own direct, first-hand experience of years of intense meditation (Tapas) and the teachings of his Guru, Shri Shivabalayogi Maharaj. He explains how meditation works and the purpose and benefits of spirituality in clear, simple terms. These recordings are taken from a live online meditation class that Babaji holds every Saturday.
