Rabbi Richard F. Address is the Founder and Director of Jewish Sacred Aging, the website jewishsacredaging.com, and host of the weekly Seekers of Meaning podcast. He co-chairs the C-TAC Interfaith Working Group.

    Shannan Hudgins - Accumulated Loss and Sorrow's Demand for Attention

    In this episode of Health & Heart, bereavement coordinator Shannan Hudgins reflects on the struggles of accumulated loss during the COVID-19 pandemic and offers guidance for listeners. Shannan Hudgins, M.A., M.Div., is the Bereavement Coordinator for Baystate Hospice in West Springfield, MA. Her involvement with C-TAC began during her final year at Andover Newton Theological School and her field education with the Rev. Dr. Donnie Anderson at the Rhode Island State Council of Churches. She is a member of the Interfaith & Diversity Workgroup of C-TAC. Shannan is a Member in Discernment for Ordination in the United Church of Christ with the Old Colony Association in Massachusetts.

    Dr. Sheik Hassan - The Concept of Worship in Islam

    In this presentation Dr. Sheik Hassan briefly presents the concept of worship in Islam, and the fact that we will be tested in many different ways. He also shares a personal event in his life and relates it to statements made by the Prophet Muhammad (Hadith) that sickness expiates sin. Dr. Sheik Hassan is a retired pulmonologist who served on the faculty at Howard University College of Medicine for more than 40 years. During his tenure, Dr. Hassan led several administrative roles at Howard; most recently, he was the Vice Dean of the medical school at the time of his retirement. He is also former president of the Islamic Medical Association of North America. Today, Dr. Hassan is an active member of several Muslim communities in Maryland and is also a member of C-TAC's Interfaith Workgroup. We're honored to have him share his words with us on this episode.

    Dr. Carole Ann Drick - The Power of Your Breath

    In this episode, Dr. Carole Ann Drick shares insights on ”The Power of Your Breath.” Listeners will also have the opportunity to experience this power for themselves. Dr. Carole Ann Drick is a registered nurse with a PhD plus is a certified advanced practice holistic nurse – this is like the nurse practitioner you see in your doctor’s office or often in Emergency Centers. She is a past President of the American Holistic Nurses Association; and, has a private holistic nursing practice in eastern Ohio called Conscious Awareness.

    Dr. Gloria Thomas Anderson - Grief, Loss, and Grace

    In this episode, Dr. Gloria Thomas Anderson will be sharing experiences of grief and loss and the amazing Grace of God through them all. Dr. Gloria Thomas Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Social Work at North Carolina State University and the author of a CDC-recommended advance care planning resource entitled, “The African-American Spiritual and Ethical Guide to End-of-Life Care: What Y’all Gon’ Do With Me?” She is the founder of Heart Tones™, an encouragement ministry that creates custom inspirational gifts and bereavement resources for caregivers. Dr. Anderson works primarily with African-American faith communities on end-of-life planning and education. She is also a member of the Interfaith and Diversity workgroup at C-TAC.
