Suicide! Is it too soon to laugh about it? -with Frank King | VIDEO | Mark MI Words

What does stand-up comedy and suicide have in common you might ask? You may answer that only a lunatic would do it! Today I ask my guest, comedian and suicide‑prevention advocate Frank King, to explain how his two seemingly unrelated careers—professional stand‑up comedy and suicide‑prevention speaking—intersect and inform one another. So, is it too soon to laugh about suicide? When can we laugh about aspects of suicide? And above all, why should we talk about suicide? Stories from BUMWIPER the book - 7 hour struggle to save a life | VIDEO | Mark MI Words

Stories from BUMWIPER the book - 7 hour struggle to save a life | Mark MI Words My new book has just come out. It's called 'BUMWIPER- 18 years working with people with disabilities'. And today I'm going to tell you one of the stories that's in this book. This is my story of trying to save a man with brain injury and psychosis from ending his own life. Be aware. This episode contains depictions of suicidal behavior, suicide, violence, blood, and a little bit of gore.📌 BUMWIPER | A True Story of Disability Support, Trauma & CPTSD 📌 BUMWIPER is more than a book—it's a deeply personal story of working on the front lines of disability support and the lasting impact that caring for others can have on those who provide that care. 📌 For 18 years, I worked directly with people living with intellectual disability, physical disability, acquired brain injury, emotional disability, and dual diagnoses. Those experiences shaped my life in ways I never expected. 📌 While still working in the industry, I began writing this book. Years later, after experiencing Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD), the story took on an entirely new meaning. This video is one story from the book.📚 Get the book: hhttps://www.amazon.com.au/BUMWIPER-Years-Working-People-Disabilities/dp/B0H73VSDRX/ref=sr_1_9?crid=1VN3GUJVL209A&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.YQxXLhTC2hLiaZWiHVHleDUYKiATApGgwSkQfnjR_Ug_GLYRnqTwPiwhO5PPvbeH5dCqB4-j8y2Is4s461DiuemHG8Vysx4273i3afDG0Zk.JZSNXAawPuwngFmdkmx9zzLzaFwqOVL5RJoKFcxevXs&dib_tag=se&keywords=bumwiper&qid=1783996924&sprefix=bumwiper%2Caps%2C937&sr=8-9

Domestic violence - What should the good men do? - with Liz Ortenburger | VIDEO | Mark MI Words

This week’s episode tackles one of the most urgent crises facing Australia — and the world: domestic violence. Women are being harmed and killed by the people meant to love and protect them, and the numbers are rising. I grew up believing a man’s role is to safeguard his family, never hurt them, and that belief drives this conversation. This episode asks a simple, confronting question: What must good men do? And why staying silent is no longer an option. Liz Ortenburger CEO of Safe Nest is our guest today and she will share with us her wisdom gleaned from 10 years in the domestic violence space. You will be challenged and confronted by this conversation. Domestic violence is tearing through Australia — and across the world — at a rate that should shock every one of us. Women are being assaulted and murdered by the very people who claim to love them, and the numbers are rising. This week, I sat down for what I believe is one of the most important conversations I’ll have all year. I grew up with a simple belief: a man’s job is to protect the people he loves, never harm them. The idea of hurting my partner or my children was unthinkable — something my own father would have confronted head‑on. That value shaped me, and it shapes the way I approach this issue. Years ago, during the height of the Me Too movement, I asked a panel of women a question: What can good men actually do? Not the performative stuff — the real actions that make a difference. Their answer was clear: call out harmful behaviour, refuse to tolerate abusive talk, and stand firm in spaces where disrespect is normalised. The truth is, I’ve never surrounded myself with men who speak that way — but that doesn’t mean the problem isn’t everywhere. This episode is about responsibility, culture, and the role men must play in ending violence. It’s about listening, learning, and refusing to stay silent. ✅ In the Line of Duty: Cops v's Mental illness | Mark MI Words 👉This Video Link: https://youtu.be/Vjz2A8oaNUM ✅ Unseen Heroes 2 - SGT Tommy Anderson | Mark MI Words 👉 This Video Link: https://youtu.be/pgeI-fKfFjA ✅ SO DO I - Bipolar Without Shame - Professor Pakesta Washington | Mark MI Words 👉 This Video Link: https://youtu.be/DULv4e_Otj4 ✅ 'Unseen Heroes' The Quiet Wounds - Lan Baker | ANZAC Day | Mark MI Words 👉 This Video Link: https://youtu.be/VlFv_g-KWas ✅ The Nightmare of Being Told to 'Get Over it' | Mark MI Words 👉This Video Link: https://youtube.com/shorts/UYMRoEvmyb8 🔥 DON’T FORGET: Get connected with me on Various Platforms.
