    Stereotypes and the Asian Community

Join me (Host: Sarah Chen) as we explore and learn about stereotypes, and relate them to the Asian community and historical events.  IMPORTANT NOTE: The Chinese Exclusion Act was the first, and remains the only law to have been implemented, to prevent all members of a  specific ethnic or national group from immigrating to the United States. It was built on the Angel Treaty of 1880, Burlingame Treaty of 1868- renewed, strengthened, and made permanent with the Geary Act in 1902. These laws attempted to stop all Chinese immigration into the United States for ten years, with exceptions for diplomats, teachers, students, merchants, and travelers.  Sources: https://genderedinnovations.stanford.edu/terms/stereotypes.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2021/03/18/history-anti-asian-violence-racism/ https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-said-china-virus-just-before-atlanta-shootings-1576756 https://www.ktvu.com/news/900k-raised-for-woman-who-fought-off-attacker-plans-to-donate-funds-to-asian-american-community https://news.yahoo.com/83-old-asian-american-woman-003132581.html https://sports.yahoo.com/chinese-man-teeth-knocked-suffers-170413292.html https://www.nytimes.com/live/2021/03/17/us/shooting-atlanta-acworth https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Exclusion_Act#:~:text=The%20Chinese%20Exclusion%20Act%20was,all%20immigration%20of%20Chinese%20laborers.

Uncovering the Not So Secret Life of Food

Food is life; it's the LOVE of my life! On a biological level, all organisms need food and nutrients to survive. Without consumption of food, after an average of 8-21 days, organisms will die from dehydration, starvation, fatigue, and other side effects. And the truth is, most of us know this already. We have either learned it in school, heard from other people, or read it somewhere on a website.  But I want to get into the good stuff and kind of uncover the truth of a somewhat hidden side of food.  Join me, (Host: Sarah Chen) as we explore and learn about the "controversy" behind Junk Food vs Organic food, and also reasons why we need to, if not already, Love food. The Most Discussed and Controversial Personality Types: Introversion and Extroversion

Have you ever, in your life, seen a person that is basically the definition of being social? No matter the number of people or awkwardness in the air, they are perfectly able to speak and thrive around others to the point where the atmosphere completely changes. Simultaneously, others prefer to be in solitude or in the company of selected individuals. They dread presenting in front of groups and always seem to be silent. I for one, know people with both of these opposing personalities. But what are these personality types anyway? Join me (Host: Sarah Chen) as we explore and learn about the definitions, theories, science, and myths behind two main personality types: Introversion and Extraversion (featuring Random Expert: Mira Bakshi), through an interesting and relatable lens.  Sources: https://introvertdear.com/news/introverts-and-extroverts-brains-really-are-different-according-to-science/ https://www.jneurosci.org/content/32/50/18087.short https://www.psychologyjunkie.com/2018/11/28/the-10-most-common-myths-about-introverts-and-extroverts/ https://davebyrnes.com/blog/who-is-more-successful-introverts-or-extroverts https://journals.aom.org/doi/abs/10.5465/amj.2011.61968043 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek56AgxwybI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1tIXbGCSog Cain, Susan.
