International Women’s Day 2021 is all about #ChooseToChallenge Keeping with this year’s theme, I’ve been working with nine (9) brilliant women creating a photo series to represent different stereotypes that modern Australian women face. Alongside this photo series, we’ve recorded a conversation on each of these topics to help create a dialog around them on International Women’s Day.

Intelligence

International Women’s Day was yesterday and its theme this year has been #ChooseToChallenge So why are we carrying on for one more day? Because these challenges don’t end on the 9th of March This is the last episode of the series, but it is a reminder to keep challenging stereotypes, recognising and changing our biases, and moving forward for a better world for ourselves and the women to come. This conversation discusses intelligence with Linette. This topic has a lot of parallels to physical strength but just the same, we need to stop being worried about intimidating people without intelligence and get it out there in whatever form it takes! March 8th is International Women’s Day and this year is all about #ChooseToChallenge This conversation is on Age discrimination. As most things are, it tends to be worse for women - but Sandra will be damned if she’s going to let that keep her down. As one of the most infectiously wonderful people you’ll come across, Sandra discusses these topics with me from looks to sexuality, money, tradition, and more! This year’s International Women’s Day is themed #ChooseToChallenge There are so many different ways to be a mother and endless opinions on what it takes to do this job in society. This conversation hears Claire talk about her experiences, some of the expectations and prejudices she has been confronted with, as well as discussing hopes and ways of challenging the future of society to not only make it easier for women and mothers but to help them in the incredibly important responsibility of raising humans.

Victimisation

noun: victimisation the action of singling someone out for cruel or unjust treatment. This is a word that has become a point of shame for victims more than the people who are treating them this way - we need to change that. While the numbers of women who have been abused (physically or emotionally) are staggering, women are not defined by the things that have happened to them.
