    Reflections: Life Cycles & Progress

Have you ever been knocked off your mark? Have you ever found your place? Knew it was your place and still left it? Since leaving Arizona, I've been looking for another place to call home. Two and half years later, the place I want to be most is the Sonoran Desert, the special place I left. The last few years have been about revisiting and returning for me. This snippet of my future is one I'm certain of: I will return home. Feeling full. All cycles complete. When lessons are gathered and applied, the next steps reveal themselves. Life is good. The difference a year makes!

On July 16, 2020, I was released from the hospital after nearly a week in ICU following a month-long mysterious illness (no confirmation of Covid-19 connection). I thought I was dying and was honestly ready to go. Fast forward to today and I'm laying ground work for an old-age with few financial concerns, no matter the state of my health. Rebounding from a physical and emotional low has its advantages. What do you need to rebound from? #life #covid_19 #health #scare #neardeathexperience #chooselife #getup #go #newperspective #newchoices #live #woman #womanhood #white #iamwoman #harvestlife

    Whole Life Restructuring

    Changing perspectives. Fleeing comfort zones. If every day is a new day, why is it so hard to start over? Or to rethink life? Rethink process? Rethink you? Or what works for you? Realizing you're free of former constraints leads to a new level of personal freedom. #vlog #reflection #doover #keepmovingforward #onward #whatsnext #rethink #restructure #reflect #build #harvestlife #reapingmyharvest #Iamtheharvest #joy #peace #selfawareness #bikeride #walk #milwaukee #chooselife #getup #go #newperspective #newchoices #newday #newmercies #live #woman #womanhood #iamwoman #harvestlife

Looking Back to Move Forward (I Am Woman Intro)

Reading of introduction to I AM WOMAN: Expressions of Black Womanhood in America. "As the scales fell from my eyes, it became painfully evident there is no environment in which Black Women are seen, respected, or valued as human beings with enough intelligence to form plans for their lives. We are treated as if we have no right to our bodies, our feelings, our thoughts, or our future. We are disregarded as if the past never happened and the present isn't for us. We are constantly told who we are, who we aren't, who we should be, what's expected of us, what we can and can't do. What's enough for us. Yet at no point are we able to just be who we are as we want to be."

Pyramids: Uxmal, Chichen Itzá, Teotihuacán, Giza

This week, I’ve been focused on creating an attractive online portfolio to better promote and share my work. While reviewing example portfolios, I came across a lovely minimalist style with simple headings: People and Objects. I have a lot of work to do before I can trim down to that level of simplicity, but I can work with the spirit of the concept and have begun organizing my work under People, Places, Things, Ideas, Change and Books. While sorting through years of images to select portfolio samples to represent my work, pyramid shots from my 2019/2020 trip to Egypt stood out. Giza was the third pyramid site I’ve been to, which led to a search for pictures from prior visits to other pyramid sites.
