    Ladies in Love

This week in fatphobia we’re talking about Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos who’ve recently discussed how they keep the spark alive while filming in different locations. There’s some fatphobic undertones that we discuss. Personally, Cassie is a big fan of Kelly Ripa, but it’s important to recognize problematic patterns even when people we like are perpetuating them.  Our listener question is from a woman in a relationship with a woman this week and it's about how to handle differing sexual desires regarding length of time spent and the activity menu.  Then we have wins of the week where Cassie talks about her love affair with America’s government teacher, Sharon McMahon (@SharonSaysSo). Sharon recently discussed banned books and used examples of porn without backing down from her stance that censorship is bad. We encourage anyone who lives in the US to pay attention to what’s going on with local public libraries and school districts in your area!  Become a patron at patreon.com/sexateverysize Links for Resources This Week in Fatphobia: Kelly Ripa & Mark Consuelos Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sexateverysize  IG: @sexateverysize Email: sexateverysize@gmail.com Cassie: IG & TikTok: @CassieWillnauerLCPC About the hosts: Cassie Willnauer, MA, LCPC, NCC Cassie Willnauer is a licensed therapist serving the Kansas City area. A Very Dull Podcast

This week in fatphobia we’re talking about Gwyneth Paltrow’s terrible podcast interview with Dr. Will Cole. We also chat briefly about our childhood favorite, Gilmore Girls and the appalling amount of fatphobia in it.  We’re skipping a listener question this week because I'm still exhausted from last week’s question.  Then we have wins of the week where we talk about CBS’s Survivor and the changes they have made over time in order to keep up with the changing social landscape of its audience.   Become a patron at patreon.com/sexateverysize Links for Resources This Week in Fatphobia: Maintenance Phase Elizabeth Taylor  Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sexateverysize  IG: @sexateverysize Email: sexateverysize@gmail.com Cassie: IG & TikTok: @CassieWillnauerLCPC About the hosts: Cassie Willnauer, MA, LCPC, NCC Cassie Willnauer is a licensed therapist serving the Kansas City area. Blue Legume

This week in fatphobia we’re talking about The Blue Zone Diet. What is a “Blue Zone” and why is boiling down a way of eating as a path towards health problematic?  We got on an excellent tangent about Christianity, capitalism, and other societal structures which work together to keep us from communal living.  We’re answering a listener question about desire discrepancy between a cis/het male partner and a cis/her female partner and breaking down the mythology around men having inherently high sex drives.  Then we have wins of the week! Cassie talks about finding the ice box in her mini fridge like a dork and Hailey talks about a fun parenting learning opportunity.   Become a patron at patreon.com/sexateverysize Links for Resources This Week in Fatphobia: Blue Zones  CNN Blue Zone article  Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sexateverysize  IG: @sexateverysize Email: sexateverysize@gmail.com Cassie: IG & TikTok: @CassieWillnauerLCPC About the hosts: Cassie Willnauer, MA, LCPC, NCC Cassie Willnauer is a licensed therapist serving the Kansas City area. We're Baaaack!

This week in fatphobia we’re talking about the new American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines on treating children in larger bodies.  As a little pallette cleanser we’re offering a review of That 90’s Show. We talk about how they handle sexuality and fat characters.  We’re not having a listener question this week since we have so much to go through with the AAP guidelines. Then we have wins of the week! Cassie talks about an ad on Dear Hank and John that Hank Green recorded where he very delicately talked about resolutions while avoiding leaning into diet culture.  Become a patron at patreon.com/sexateverysize Links for Resources This Week in Fatphobia: American Academy of Pediatrics Guidelines  The Daily by the New York Times  Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/sexateverysize  IG: @sexateverysize Email: sexateverysize@gmail.com Cassie: IG & TikTok: @CassieWillnauerLCPC About the hosts: Cassie Willnauer, MA, LCPC, NCC Cassie Willnauer is a licensed therapist serving the Kansas City area. Bodies Aren't Trends

This week in fatphobia we’re talking about an article from the New York Post titled Bye Bye Booty: Heroin chic is back. It’s bad enough for a fashion trend to be named after a drug, but to boil bodies down to trends as though we should be treating our bodies as accessories is just.. Gross and dangerous. Our listener question this week is from a cis/het couple who’s feeling disconnected after years of a intense work hours which have recently shifted and how that’s impacting their sex life currently.  Then we have wins of the week! Cassie’s 6 year old kid is trying out basketball and helped her through her anxiety about it!  Patreon is now live! Cuddling Dilemma

This week in fatphobia we’re talking about a new report out from The New York Times on Diabetes prevention where they actually cited the environmental and life factors as necessary to preventing the disease!  Our listener question this week is from a cis/het couple who’s feeling like they’re not getting what they signed up for in their intimate relationships. We talk about the concept of aftercare, altered circumstances, as well as communication.  Then we have wins of the week! Cassie tells a funny sex story about her partner being obnoxious. Then Hailey shares a story about her realtor friend who caught a house painter having sex in a house during a showing. We’ll be expecting follow ups on this story.  Patreon is now live! Groundbreakingly Behind The Times

This week in fatphobia we’re diving into a review of Disney’s new short Reflect. The short is about a fat ballerina and we have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this one! Our listener question this week is from a cis-female woman about her cis-male partner’s discomfort with “plastic dicks”. We break down how to determine core values around sex and sexuality in relationships and once again encourage communication in order to establish boundaries! Then we have wins of the week! Cassie’s win is about working with her son through preschool drop offs to get him to be less aggressive during those times which leads into a conversation about raising our boys to be gentle and loving the same way we do with our daughters.  Patreon is now live! Taylor Swift is the Problem

This week in fatphobia we’ve gotta talk about Taylor Swift. She had some pretty blatant fatphobia in her video released for the song Anti Hero. We talk about how she’s changed the video to remove the most blatant imagery, and discuss whether we think that was enough to address the mistake.  Our listener question this week is from a cis-female woman about her cis-male partner. It’s something we found on a Facebook page that we felt really allowed us to have a nuanced discussion around porn. We’ve tried to talk about porn on the pod in the past and that tends to be a hot-button issue for folks, so we’re hoping this brings in more layers to the ongoing conversation.  Then we have wins of the week! Hailey’s win this week is that she cleaned the dust off all of the fans in her house & programmed her car to open her garage! Cassie’s win this week is about cleaning too! Her house is clean and she’s dedicated to keeping it clean and has been making a solid effort daily to keep clutter from piling up. For a bonus win Cassie talks about her ADHD and progress she’s making to stay focused! Patreon is now live!
