S01E06 - Pop Culture - Toxic Positivity, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly

At first glance, one might think "Why would an excessive amount of positivity be a bad thing?", well, no worries as you are not alone. When I first read this two-word statement I was very much looking for the why I think it wouldn't make sense. After some learning, I think I figured it out. In this episode, I will walk through what Toxic Positivity means for Kirsten (Mother 'squatch to three young boys, and a loving wife to my best friend Aaron), and Niki (social services worker, sister-in-law, women's and mental health advocate) as they explain it to this limited man. Here are some resources to help you to understand what it is, to help you be more mindful, and what to do to avoid certain social situations: https://rightasrain.uwmedicine.org/mind/well-being/toxic-positivity https://www.verywellmind.com/what-is-toxic-positivity-5093958 https://www.healthline.com/health/mental-health/toxic-positivity-during-the-pandemic Got an idea? S01E05 - Mental Health - Identifying Warning Signs of Suicide & Coping With Loss - Part 2

No one is impervious to mental health issues. Unfortunately, some people in this world struggle with it much greater than others. We will find those who are survivors of attempts and others who experience suicide grief during this journey. To date, suicide carries a stigma associated with it; we don't talk about it. To help talk about it, I'm joined with Niki Smith, someone who has lived most of their life with suicide grief and volunteers with others in a similar situation to help them find a way to get through their loss. The episode will continue to cover statistics, but more importantly, we will walk through Niki's personal story. I hope you can take something from this and if you want to know more, struggle with mental health, or want to help (volunteer), please see the links below: https://www.torontocentralhealthline.ca/displayservice.aspx?id=132813 https://www.crisisservicescanada.ca/en/ https://www.camh.ca/ https://www.thetrevorproject.org/ https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/suicide-prevention/suicide-canada.html https://letstalk.bell.ca/en/

    510 Nobody's Gonna Know...They're Gonna Know

This might be the start of something awesome. Can you tell what makes this episode kind of cool? I know it's "boring" to listen to, but there is a reason. Can you tell me how or why? In this short session, I will cover an update on COVID-19, Politics, and the NHL.
