Ramblings from Retirement – Coffee and Lilies

Far too many of us spend far too much time worrying about this or that or the other thing in life. We forget that what we worry about today will not matter next year or even within a few weeks. I confess, I am a worrier, so I know of what I speak, but I’ve learned – with the help of my sweet wife and the patience of the Lord – to take time not to worry. To allow the Lord to handle whatever is bothering me for the day. Grab a cup of coffee or something you enjoy and join me today. Ramblings from Retirement – The Church, Jesus’ body in the World

What I wanted to ramble on about today is the false notion that belonging to a local church or actually joining a church is not necessary for one’s faith walk. This is simply unadulterated bovine poo. If Jesus took the time to set up his church and remark that it was for administering what his teachings were about, then we should take this very seriously. Let's discover today what this means and why. Ramblings from Retirement – Are You No Earthly Good?

There's an old saying that a Christian can be "so heavenly-minded you're no earthly good". It means that believers can be so focused on being holy, that they've lost sight of the world around them. Now this can be a good thing when it refers to one's looking to Jesus as they live, but it can be bad if they're so focused on the things of heaven that they forget about those around them that need Jesus. Let's discover what that means today. This episode is also available as a blog post: https://pastorblastor.wordpress.com/2022/04/04/ramblings-from-retirement-are-you-no-earthly-good/

Ramblings from Retirement – Get Out There and Share Jesus!

When Jesus first sent out his twelve disciples onto Paul and others, we see that they went out and simply declared who Jesus was and what he had done for them. This is what we should be doing as well. Perhaps you do not share because you have not seen Jesus working in your life? Sharing passages of Scripture that do not or have not impacted your life will mean nothing to others if they do not see it working in your life. Here's an easy way to share your faith. Ramblings from Retirement – Meditating on God’s Word

We have often heard that we need to memorize passages of Scripture in order to be better believers, but is this true? I have even taught this myself as a pastor, but my thinking has changed because of studying Scripture! Today I share what the authors of Scripture really meant when they "hid" God's words in their hearts. Join me today and listen in! Ramblings from Retirement – Words Do Mean Things

Word do mean things, but it isn't the correct phrases, words, or names we give people or things that truly matter in life. What matters is if we truly believe what we say. In this rambling I share what words we should use and why. I hope it blesses you today as you go about your life. Ramblings from Retirement – No Starfleet Future Awaits Humanity

Being nice enough, kind enough, using the right words or phrases will never change the real problem mankind has. Today we discuss what that problem is and how to solve it in realizing that mankind does not have the answer, only Jesus does.
