The “Hope Exists” podcast was designed with the intention to discuss how we can create healthier and safer communities. Through conversations with local and national experts, as well as youth from the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City, New Jersey, we believe that we can all come away with a renewed sense of hope as well as actionable solutions to move us forward as a community.

    Ep. 13: Leaders in Training

    On this episode of the Hope Exists Podcast, Sheriff Scheffler discusses the Atlantic City Leaders in Training program with special guests, Retired Judge Mark Sandson, Boys and Girls Club Teen Center Director Tracy Parker, and Ambrose Gray of the Leaders in Training program. The Atlantic City (LIT) Leaders in Training Workforce Development program targets Atlantic City’s at-risk youth. Its concept resulted through the pulling together of concerned stakeholders in Atlantic City in 2019, resulting from several youth deaths during that summer. What started as a program of 20 at-risk youth in 2019 has grown to 500+ at-risk youth receiving mentoring, workforce, and life skill development.  https://litnj.org

    Ep. 12: Supporting Youth

    On this episode of the Hope Exists Podcast, Sheriff Scheffler discusses youth programs with special guest Hector Tavarez, Executive Director of the Egg Harbor Township Police Activities League. The EHT PAL provides the space and leadership for incredible STEM and Robotics programs and many other activities for Atlantic County youth.     On this episode of the Hope Exists Podcast, Sheriff Scheffler discusses resiliency in our youth with Michael McKnight, M.A. Special Education.  McKnight has a passion for creating and supporting Reclaiming Environments for “at-risk” children, youth, and the adults who serve them. Mcknight leads us through a deeper understanding of how to implement strategies that help develop resiliency in youth and engage the community in building a culture that supports the needs of our most at-risk youth.
