    An Introduction to American Involvement in Latin America

    Welcome to our first episode of La Opresión de La Gente, which translates to "The Oppression of the People." We will begin by diving into the U.S.'s foreign policy in Latin America over the past century and the humanitarian impacts of said involvement on the people of Latin America. Then, we specifically discuss the history of the U.S.'s relationship with Bolivia and Venezuela, the two countries which we will be focusing on in this podcast series. We aim to help bring attention to the impact that the U.S. has had on the region— we often hear about the Middle East in the news, but we seldom hear about the U.S.'s involvement in Latin America. Why are we involved in Latin America? What are the impacts of this involvement? How exactly does the U.S. influence the region? These are all questions that we will be exploring during this episode and the entire series.
