    EP 11 PONY BREATH (THE WEATHER)

    EP 10 PONY BREATH (THE GATHERING)

    The ponies go buck wild for music festivals and the gathering. On my first day at the Gathering, I ran into a Facebook friend named Jimmy who I believe I first met properly at the Juggalo March on Washington. I’m fascinated by his life because while his jobs are all on the soul-crushing and low-paying side his existence nevertheless seems defined by food, concerts, comedy, and friends. He’s a good-ass dude perpetually living his best life, representing all that is honorable and pure about Juggalo Nation. One of my biggest regrets of the Gathering is that I never made it to the Juggalo Wine Club Mixer where he was portraying the role of Bernie from the motion pictures Weekend at Bernie’s and Weekend at Bernie’s II because it was hard to find anything that wasn’t one of the main stages or the entrances.

    What are your predictions for the future? The ponies delve into the deep and sometimes dark crevasse. The relatively new insight that mixed-mode fracture in local stress equilibrium, rather than downstream advection alone, can introduce nontrivial curvature to crevasse geometry may merit the reinterpretation of some key historical observation studies. In the past three decades, there have been tremendous advances in the spatial resolution of satellite imagery, as well as fully automated algorithms capable of tracking crevasse displacements between repeat images. Despite considerable advances in developing fully transient three-dimensional ice flow models over the past two decades, both the zero stress and linear elastic fracture mechanics crevasse models have remained fundamentally unchanged over this time. In the past decade, however, multidimensional and transient formulations of the continuum damage mechanics approach to simulating ice fracture have emerged. The combination of employing damage mechanics to represent a slow upstream deterioration of ice strength and fracture mechanics to represent rapid failure at downstream termini holds promise for implementation in large-scale ice-sheet models. Finally, given the broad interest in the sea level rise implications of recent and future cryospheric change, we provide a synthesis of 10 mechanisms by which crevasses can influence glacier mass balance. pony breath twitter

    The talk party fouls this week. the ones we have committed and how to become the ultimate party guest. We restate and clarify the idea of the "party," a concept that has found considerable traction in studies of parties throughout the world, including those far from the original research site and data on which the model was based. The party thesis holds that parties increasingly function like cartels, employing the resources of the state to limit competition and ensure their own success. The thesis has been subject to varied empirical testing and substantial theoretical evaluation and criticism. Against this background, we look again at the party thesis to clarify ambiguities and misinterpretations of the original argument.

    EP 7 PONY BREATH (BIG UP THE PONY SPECIAL)

    Courts and ash expose all things pony. ``The Colt'' is reminiscent of the Steinbeck tale but stands on its own. Among stories by such contemporary writers as Gretl Ehrlich, James Salter and Elizabeth Cook-Lynn, there are two standouts: Pam Houston's ``What Shock Heard,'' a story of courtship conducted almost entirely by horseback, and ``Wild Horses,'' Rick Bass's tale of horsebreaking and broken hearts.
