In the sermon from 8/18/24, the definitions of sin and salvation were restructured to define Jesus’ death on the cross not as a substitutionary sacrifice to atone for our sins and provide believers with forgiveness, but as a parody against human efforts to overcome their own evil. The “pastor” lambasted Paul’s presentation of the gospel in Romans and made the claims that the Bible in no way calls for blood sacrifices to atone for sins (a claim Hebrews 9:22 would disagree with). Sin is only an accidental occurrence in our failure to live as God designed, and nowhere does our sin necessitate the wrath of God.
The only time that gospel truth was shared was when the speaker sarcastically listed its core tenants in order to explain away its claims. Otherwise, you couldn’t have gone more than a few seconds without hearing straight blasphemy against the gospel of God. The preacher is a classic heretic. Mark and avoid, Knoxville.
