    PERSEVERANCE  IS  A  MEDICINE TO SUCCESS What it is: When we try to do a thing we may not succeed in the first attempt. Some people give it up at this stage while others go on trying until they succeed. This habit of trying, again and again, is called perseverance. Its role in success: For success in life, a man must possess certain qualities in him. He must have a strong will to reach the goal in his life. He must also be able to work with determination. Perseverance is born out of such will and determination. It enables a man to go on trying until the goal is reached. Necessary for great and lasting work: Perseverance is essential for anybody who wants to do something great and lasting. A sculptor needs perseverance in making a beautiful statue. No one can become a great musician without practising it for a long time. One can become a great scholar only after years of hard studies. Usefulness in student life: A student has to build up a big store of knowledge by acquiring it bit by bit. He is required to apply his time and energy to studies for years together. Only with perseverance, he can do it. A student may be quite intelligent; but if he cannot persevere, he will never be able to have a good education. Moreover, if he cannot acquire the habit of perseverance in student life, he will fail to do any important work in his later life. A student who wants to achieve something great and noble in life must cultivate the habit of perseverance from the very beginning.
