Shara is a 24-year old Filipina who loves two things (among many others): coffee and talking. She can talk about a lot of things: mental health, crushes, friendships, relationships, politics, and more -- all of which are best discussed over a nice cup of coffee (or at least, that's what she thinks). Now that we're stuck in quarantine, she tries to gather her nearest & dearest to talk about things they're passionate about, and how they formed their own deep and personal connections through these. Hopefully, you can relate to their stories & conversations, as you enjoy your own cup of joe.

    Episode 7: 3Ps: Putting your Passions into Perspective

    Welcome back to another episode! This was a recording done November of last year, where I talked with two of my good friends from College: Gayle (who I already had in Episode 2) and Bonchy, and we discussed the road to pursuing our passions in life. Given that we're in the midst of a global pandemic, I'm sure that a lot of our plans were put on hold, but that did not stop us from getting older AND getting frustrated to see time pass us by. With the pressures to be where we (and society) think we should be, sometimes we question ourselves if our passions are worth pursuing, or if they should be put on hold. Hopefully, our experiences regarding that will help inspire anyone with the same struggles. It also helps to surround yourself with people who are with you in this journey of self-discovery to assure you that everything's going to be alright, fam! Enjoy this ep!!! :) I'll probably be on a mini hiatus after this, so I hope to see you guys when I get back!!! P.S. given the permission to bugaw them, my two friends are single po! Baka naman po may mga gusto mag-avail, PM niyo lang po ako. :p

    Episode 6: Madam Rihanna, paano po ba hindi sumobra sa 'Work work work work work' ???

    Welcome to the second part of my discussion with Bryan, where we talk about the things we have in common that make us the good friends we are now. For this episode, we talk about our workaholic tendencies and the struggles we had (have) trying to avoid it. For the longest time, we were made to believe that the amount of work you did equated to your productivity and worth as a person, and oftentimes, we overcompensate by overworking in order to feel fulfilled and deserving of rest. But no, sis!!! Mali iyan. Kung ikaw ay hindi nakakatulog nang hindi nagchcheck ng email o lagi kang naghahanap ng trabaho, nako... you're one of us! Charot!!! Pero hindi nga, sana sa episode na ito maiparating namin sa inyo ang kahalagahan ng pagpapahinga at kung bakit hindi dapat nago-glorify ang pagiging workaholic. Sabi nga ng Ben & Ben, "'di rin kasalanang magpahinga," kaya huwag nating kalimutang alagaan ang sarili natin talaga mga mamsh!!! OKAY???? Kaya tama na trabaho, itulog mo muna 'yan, okay???  Enjoy!

    Episode 5: The 'D' that Nobody Wants

    This episode is the first part of my two-part catch-up with my College friend-turned-officemate, Bryan. Today, we will talk about the first thing we had in common: being delayed. Not only were we both Delayed Titos & Titas of UP Maskom™, but we also had our fair share of other kwentong delayed in life. We talk about these, their effect on us, and how we dealt with them as they came. We also try our best to debunk the notion of delay being defeat, and why the biggest defeats can oftentimes bring about the greatest breakthroughs. We are living in such uncertain times, with so many plans constantly being pushed back, and that makes it SOOOO easy for us to feel pressured about it causing us delay. But, with a good support system, an unbreakable fighting spirit, and a shift in perspective, we assure you that all good things will come to you eventually. Kaya kapit lang tayo at wag sumuko! Everything will come through -- all in the universe's perfect time.  Enjoy!

    Episode 4: If you wanna be my lover, you gotta get with my friends!

    In this week's episode, I catch up with my besties since High School: Lou, Niña, and Chrislei, and we basically celebrate our decade(+)-long friendship and how we managed to maintain and strengthen it despite being in different colleges and different paths in life. We also talk about handling boys as we grew older (as products of an all-girls Catholic school in Elementary and High School), what we ~really~ think about resibo culture, and the ways in which our friendship has made us better individuals. This episode was recorded in October 2020, after celebrating the International Day of the Girl earlier that month, and so we also talked about the importance not only of friendships, but especially of female friendships, and how it's about time to let the strong, powerful, and badass women in our lives shine. We hope you enjoy! P.S. This was actually the first-EVER episode I recorded, I still didn't do well with handling the mic, so audio might not be as great as previous episodes. But, ya girl is learning and she shall work on bettering the audio in the other episodes hehe ty!!!!!!!!!!

    Episode 3: Strong Independent Women, pero hanggang kailan???

    EXT. SUNKEN GARDEN - NIGHT. Just as ~the~ Parokya ni Edgar's about to play 'Your Song,' Chito asks the crowd: "O sino ang mga single diyan??? Taas ang kamay!!!" You felt the attack, siz. HAHA.  In today's episode, Shara catches up with her fellow single friend Gayle to talk about the pains and the joys of being single. From elaborating as to why they think they're still single, to what comments about it irk them the most, they also talk about the fun things about it, and how not to be the bitter ampalaya they think we singles are. So, sa mga kapwa namin single diyan, it's okay. Our time will come. Tiwala lang! (Note: this episode was recorded on November 2020, so some views expressed before ~may~ have changed now. What hasn't changed though, is that Gayle and Shara are both still single. So, alam niyo na. HAHAHA chos!)

    Episode 1: Hello! Kumusta? Okay ka pa ba???

    Welcome to the first-ever episode of Coffee & Connections!!! For the first episode, allow me to first explain my intentions for creating this pod and what you ~can~ expect as you listen to the episodes. Also, seeing that it's been more than a year (UGHHHH) since the quarantine started, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's been stressed and frustrated about it. So, let me to share with you the five things I discovered that helped me care for myself more during this stressful time in our world. Hopefully, you gain some insights from them and these can help you in your own self-care journey. You are very important and you matter, so always remember to take care of yourself!!! *virtual hugs*
