Coco Conroy - The Reset of an Actor to Tech, Realities of Job Land Today

So excited to have Coco on the podcast! Coco and I met over 5 years ago through a dear friend in my circle, and I have been a huge fan of her and her story ever since. I love having multiple perspectives, and having her kind of experience with nontraditional backgrounds is such varied, important experience. Colleen “Coco” Conroy is an operations and customer experience leader, former professional actor and improviser, longtime hospitality veteran, occasional live-show producer, Trust & Safety nerd, and reluctant participant in the alphabet soup of Corporate speak. After 15 years in the arts, she traded auditions and restaurant shifts for the equally confusing world of tech, where she discovered a knack for navigating the ambiguity and chaos of tiny-startup life. Her career has included customer success, operations, content moderation, user research, education, AI-powered support, fundraising, and enough job interviews to qualify as an unpaid subject-matter expert in modern hiring. She is particularly interested in nonlinear careers, transferable skills, and the strange theater of professional life. She’s also interested in technology that connects people, expands access to knowledge and ideas, builds community, and makes the internet a more useful, healthy place that puts actual humans first. Coco lives in Brooklyn, NY, with the best dog in the galaxy. She is currently looking for her next full-time adventure while attempting not to monetize any of her hobbies. Our Structure Tell us about you. Would love to get to know what you are about, and your “reset” story. What careers/occupations have you had? What are you doing now?
