    Who Is King?

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapter 28, Saul is inquiring of the Lord, and not receiving any answers. He proceeds to seek out a medium, and she conjures up the prophet Samuel, who brings Saul yet another stark warning.     Following God's Plan is Always the A+ Plan

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapters 26 & 27, David spares Saul’s life for a second time, and then makes a poor decision to flee to the Philistines.     God's Resolution is Better Than Our Revenge

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapters 25, Nabal insults David by refusing his request for provisions, and David prepares to take revenge. Abigail intervenes with humility and generosity, preventing bloodshed and demonstrating that God, not David, would bring justice.     What Are We Seeking?

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapters 23-24, David and his men defeat the Philistines at Keilah. We see David faithfully inquiring of God, and as he is on the run from Saul, he is offered a chance to kill Saul, but instead cuts off the edge of his robe. David is convicted over his actions, and confesses to Saul. Saul is impressed at David’s humility and affirms God’s choice of him as the next king of Israel. Pastor Eric shares three points as we work through the text: 1) Seeking the Lord shapes selflessness. 2) Seeking the Lord helps God-honoring decision-making. 3) Seeking the Lord moves our hearts toward forgiveness.

    God's Grace Sustains Us Through Trials and Tragedy

    God Faithfully Protects His People in Opposition

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapters 19-20, we see King Saul seeking to kill David. David’s wife Michal and Saul’s son Jonathan protect him, and David flees.     God's Favor is for God's Glory, Not Ours

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapter 18, we see David and Jonathan’s friendship blossom and Saul’s first attempt to kill David. Despite the danger David finds himself in, God’s favor is upon him and he prospers in all he does, including defeating 200 Philistines to secure his marriage to Saul’s daughter Michal. Pastor Eric shares three points as we work through the text: 1) Friendship: Sacrificial connection reflects God’s glory in friendship. 2) Favor: God’s presence accomplishes God’s purposes for God’s glory. 3) Foe: Fearful hearts oppose God’s glory and purpose.

    Battles Are Won Through the Anointed King

    Today we continue in our series, Who is King?, in 1 Samuel. In chapter 17, we see David defeat Goliath during Israel’s battle against the Philistines. Pastor Eric shares four points as we work through the text: 1) Fearful battles reveal powerless people (vs. 1-24). 2) God defeats the enemy through His chosen King (vs. 25-58). 3) Jesus is the greater and better David. 4) Jesus’ victory produces courageous faith.
