This podcast is by students and for students, organized in collaboration with the Oregon Student Association (OSA). Here and on our podcast, we will interview students from colleges and universities all over Oregon to discuss any and all topics that relate to students of color in Oregon, and keep you up to date with how students at Oregon universities and colleges are working to build more diverse and inclusive communities. Our mission is to bridge the gap between distant universities and colleges and create a space where student leaders all across Oregon can learn from one another.

    Pilot: The Rise of WOU’s Freedom Center

    Hi everyone! This is the Pilot episode of Flying with Our Own Wings!! In this episode, we will be interviewing Liz Marquez Gutierrez and Arlette Tapia, two amazing student leaders and members of Western Oregon University's student government. We will be discussing their involvement with WOU's Freedom Center, a resource for cultural student groups of WOU's campus. Through our discussions, we will cover the following topics: building communities and safe spaces for marginalized students on your campus, the BIPOC student experience of working to make positive change, relationships between faculty and students during the change-making process, and some all-to-common systemic struggles that often get in our way as student changemakers.
