24 year old African American Donna Higgins and her 27 year old Polish girlfriend Amelia Nowak were planning on getting married in the 90´s before the Defense Of The Marriage Act happened. 24 years later Donna Higgins comes forward and tells the story of how her and her wife coped with not being able to be united by marriage. Donna also came forward about how her and Amelia felt when they found out they could get married.
