Episode 10: Lifelong Care & Geriatrics (ft. Prof. Adrian Wagg, Canada)

The management of OAB increases in complexity as a patient becomes older. This can be due a number of factors, including the number of conditions an older patient needs to managed and the increasing severity of these conditions. In particular, cognitive impairment has become a major issue that has been identified among older OAB patients, with OAB being associated with measurably slower cognative responses. This episode will focus on the latest thinking on how to approach this OAB and lifelong care, and what is being done to address this issue as the geriatric population grows. Episode 9: OAB Management – Ways to Move Forward (ft. Prof. Marcus Drake, UK)

Effective management of urinary incontinence (UI) is influenced by patients’ help-seeking behaviours as well as which services are offered by healthcare professionals. To increase awareness, it is important to understand the knowledge, attitudes and beliefs of healthcare practitioners towards urinary incontinence management. This episode will explore varying attitudes to OAB diagnosis and management, and what more can be done to positively influence physician behaviour towards management. In particular, this episode will focus on how technological advances can change OAB management, and the impact this can have. Episode 8: OAB in the Male Population (ft. Dr. James Urry, South Africa)

Diagnosis and management of OAB among males can be challenging, especially given the inherent overlap in symptoms observed with Benign Prostate Hyperplasia (BPH). BPH is diagnosed and treated more frequently than OAB; however, the differences between diagnosis and treatment patterns for the two conditions highlight the potential undertreatment of OAB and misdirection of therapy for men. This episode explores various aspects of OAB in males, focusing on its unique characteristics within this population. Episode 7: OAB Awareness in Primary Care (ft. Prof. Philip Van Kerrebroeck, Netherlands)

Although there have been significant advances in OAB treatments, OAB is significantly under-recognised and under-treated within the primary care setting. It is well established that there is a high “willingness to learn” about OAB management within primary care, and that educational activities can have a lasting impact on clinical practice. This episode will explore the motivation for primary care physicians to learn about OAB, the impact continuing education can have, and how trends in OAB management can impact how primary care physicians care for OAB patients. Episode 6: Advances in Managing OAB (ft. Prof. Hashim Hashim, UK)

Growing appreciation of OAB as a prevalent and impactful condition has spurred interest in advancing OAB management. These exciting advancements will have a significant impact on patient outcomes, which is especially critical as ageing populations grow. This episode covers an overview of OAB interventions, including non-invasive approaches, pharmacological treatments, and surgical interventions. Episode 5: OAB and Mental Health (ft. Prof Tufan Tarcan, Turkey)

Mental health associations with OAB are widely acknowledged to impact patient outcomes, and there are clear links between OAB undermanagement and key mental health issues such as anxiety, self esteem issues and depression. With many countries beginning to invest significantly in mental health support and acknowledge its role in quality of life, understanding OAB-related mental health is critical. This episode will explore the nature of mental health issues within OAB, how these can be addressed, and why this is a pressing issue as populations age across the world.
