The Distinct & Jovial Podcast

Jerry and Dom

The Distinct & Jovial podcast is a monthly release created by Jerry and Dom to talk absolute rubbish. We like to think of ourselves as the company you would love to converse with, and therefore, put out conversational content you can listen to. It's definitely distinct, we have a large garnish of joviality, and plenty of guests to keep things interesting.

    I Got These F1 Predictions VERY Wrong…

We're back with another solo episode of Distinct & Jovial and this time, we're heading back to the world of Formula 1. Back in February, Dom made his predictions for the 2026 F1 season. Now we're at the halfway point, so there's only one thing to do... See how badly he got them wrong. This episode is a mid-season check-in on the F1 season so far, looking back at those original predictions, what's surprised us, who's delivered, and who definitely hasn't. Then it's time for the mid-season driver report cards, with Dom giving every driver their rating based on how they've performed so far. 🏎️ This Week We Discuss: 🔮 The February Predictions What did Dom predict at the start of the season? Which predictions are looking good? Which ones aged terribly? Who has surprised us? 📊 The Mid-Season Review How has the season developed? Biggest surprises so far Biggest disappointments Who has exceeded expectations? ⭐ Driver Ratings Every F1 driver gets a mid-season rating Who gets the top marks? Who needs to seriously improve? 🎧 The Vibe A slightly different Distinct & Jovial this time around. It's a solo episode, but with more of a P1-style F1 review feel: predictions, opinions, ratings and plenty of opportunities for Dom to defend some questionable calls made six months ago. Part analysis, part retrospective and part public accountability. And, as always, the opinions are entirely Dom's own... so don't blame Jerry. 📚 Chapters (00:00:00) Introduction (00:05:27) F1 Predictions (00:20:36) F1 Driver Ratings (00:57:24) Final Thoughts

Six Years Later... | Dom Reflects on Life

It's time for another annual check-in. For the first time, Distinct & Jovial heads outdoors as Dom takes the podcast on a walk through the beautiful New Forest. It's our first travelling, in-person solo episode and the perfect backdrop for a more reflective conversation. Continuing a tradition we've now kept for six years, Dom revisits the same annual questions to see how his answers have changed, what life has taught him, and where the next chapter might lead. Along the way, there are conversations about new hobbies, favourite music, mental health, and the value of taking time to slow down. 💬 This Week We Discuss 🥾 Walking and why getting outside has become so important 🏄 Paddleboarding and discovering new hobbies 🎸 My Chemical Romance and the music that sticks with us 💭 The Sixth Year Reflection Revisiting the annual questionsHow perspectives have changedLessons from the past yearLooking ahead to what's next 🧠 Honest thoughts on mental health, personal growth, and learning to navigate life's ups and downs. 🎧 The Vibe A slower-paced, more personal episode than usual. Recorded while walking through the New Forest, this is an honest conversation about growth, reflection, and appreciating how much can change over the course of a year. There are still plenty of lighter moments along the way, but this episode is all about taking stock, embracing the journey, and recognising that progress isn't always measured by big milestones. Whether you've been listening since the early days or have only recently discovered the podcast, we hope you'll enjoy joining Dom for this year's reflection. 📚 Chapters (00:00:00) Introduction(00:06:26) My Chemical Romance at Wembley(00:22:03) Paddleboarding Adventures(00:25:14) Open Mental Health Conversation(00:51:39) The Real Vanity Fair Section(01:05:36) Final Thoughts

    Funniest Amazon Reviews!

Everyone has an opinion... but should every opinion come with a five-star rating? This week, Jerry and Dom dive into the wonderful world of reviews, from the people who leave them to the absolute masterpieces hidden away on Amazon and Google. Along the way, we also celebrate the little things that make adult life surprisingly exciting and catch up on what we've been up to; including taking on a cycle ride and, naturally, the British weather making an appearance. Just Giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/daniel-lammin?utm_medium=FA&utm_source=CL 💬 This Week We Discuss 🌦️ Why the weather always ends up becoming a conversation ⭐ Do you actually leave reviews? What deserves a review? Why are some people professional reviewers? The funniest Amazon and Google reviews we've found🏆 Blindly Rank Things Worth Being Excited About As An AdultAs always, expect plenty of questionable opinions, plenty of laughs, and several moments where we realise adulthood is far less glamorous than we imagined. 🎧 The Vibe A classic Distinct & Jovial episode full of light-hearted conversation, relatable observations, competitive rankings, and the kind of random tangents that somehow make perfect sense. If you've ever got excited about a parcel arriving, laughed at a one-star review, or found yourself talking about the weather for longer than you'd like to admit... this one's for you. 📚 Chapters (00:00:00) Introduction(00:03:00) The Weather(00:16:14) Cycling for Stroke Foundation(00:40:47) Blindly Rank(00:54:59) Best Amazon Reviews(01:25:49) Final Thoughts

60 episodes. 5 years of podcasts. And somehow we’ve reached the point where we’re questioning whether modern life actually makes any sense. In this episode, we dive into the things society has collectively accepted… despite all of us secretly knowing they’re completely ridiculous. 💬 This Week We Discuss Why networking feels painfully fakeThe bizarre world of LinkedIn postsSmall talk and pretending to care about the weatherOpen offices and why nobody actually likes themWedding costs becoming financially catastrophicAlong the way there’s the usual chaos, overthinking, strong opinions, and moments where we realise we may just be getting older and more cynical. But this episode is also a bit special. 🎉 5 Years of Distinct & Jovial What started as two friends recording conversations has somehow turned into 60 episodes of debates, nonsense, deep chats, technical difficulties, returning guests, and far too many blindly rankings. Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or found us recently; thank you for listening, supporting, and putting up with whatever this podcast has become. 🎧 The Vibe Classic Distinct & Jovial energy. Relatable frustrations, chaotic observations, and conversations that feel dangerously close to a group chat that should probably stay private.
