James Dobson's Bastard Kids

I grew up with the same lousy religious upbringing, and really wanted to like this pod. But it’s BAD!! No Editing. Chrissy says THE STUPIDEST THINGS ALL THE TIME!!!! Usually about sex, bodies or gay people. Just STUNNING. This show could be so good, but it’s long, ULTRA tangential, never gets to the point, and I just can’t.

I am an ex member of Jesus People USA. The three episodes about the culty-commune caught my attention. I was a long time member who joined in my older teens. While i tend to hold JPUSA more accountable, everything in those episodes, i can verify. I was in the Kaiser Family, and taught school in the community school for well over a decade. I found healing and validation in the opinions and deeply appreciate a venue that isn’t afraid to broach this subject.

regarding the episode about mcgee and me episode “the nick of time,” there are a couple of mistakes to point out. Firstly, Renee has been a friend since episode one. All three kids have been together since the OG series. Secondly, the man teaching nick to rock climb is not his dad. it’s the pro instructor that they hired at the outset of the trip. And finally, the crotch jokes are just not funny and trying too hard to fit something edgy into something innocent and normal. i couldn’t get past that to finish the episode.

I love this show. I’ve been listening since deconstructing and it has been like being in a weekly support group. Now I will say, I was raised an independent baptist and we were taught that the Pentecostals were too liberal, especially with their interpretations of the Bible. But that’s just my prejudice I guess. Even though some episodes I might not get into the topic, the hosts do a fantastic job and it is a well done show. They might do this in their off time, but I think they’re pros
