Advent: Joseph's Love

Upon learning of Mary's pregnancy, Joseph had several options, but he chose the path of obedience to God and love of Mary and Jesus. Can you even imagine step parenting God's son? But what a privilege to participate in the fulfillment of the prophecy. For a righteous man like Joseph, there was great reward in obedience. We have much to learn from the way Joseph expressed love for God and others.

Advent: The Angel's Peace

The Christmas story is full of angels speaking to humans. Do we lose our ability to see angels as we grow up? Do we suppress our imaginations as we become more sophisticated and reasonable? The Scripture which we hold to be true is full of examples where the invisible spiritual realm is at play in the very visible world we live in. There is something greater than us out there. This is good news!

Advent: Mary's Joy

Mary played a pivotal role in the Advent story but it was bigger than just carrying the Christ Child in her womb. So much bigger! She was part of a bigger redemptive thread. And she received this mission with a surrendered joy. We can learn much from this young girl and her delight in being called by God in ways that truly upended her young life.

Advent: Zechariah's Hope

Hope. It can seem so far away sometimes. There is a proverb that says "hope deferred makes the heart sick" and that may have been the case for Zechariah. But oh how that script can change in the blink of an eye. Tune in as Zechariah's hope is fulfilled in ways that were beyond his imagination. Won't God do it??!!

In His Footsteps: Relationships (part 1)

We have been formed to understand love is transactional. This happens in our homes, in our churches, and our workspaces, and in our communities. As much as we hate to admit it, when we love others, we do it with an expectation that they will return that love in the manner to which it has been extended. When the other party does not reciprocate in kind, we get our feelings hurt and eventually we cut them off. We are flipping that old script and framing relationships from a "love well", "stay well", "covenant" kind of lens.

Stories of the People of God: Peter

Peter shows us that redemption and transformation is possible through faith in the risen Lord, despite the very real complications of being human. We look at the life of Peter in 5 acts and are encouraged by his submission to Christ, over and over, even unto death. There are so many lessons here!

Stories of the People of God: Ezekiel

Prophets from Scripture were not simply God’s mouthpiece, but humans who became one with the deep emotion that God has towards His people. It’s as if they absorbed the very feelings of God deep into their minds, souls and bodies, through the act of representing Him. Ezekiel 4 reminds us that God is always drawing His people back to Himself, back into His holiness. This lesson did not come without great cost to Ezekiel. Tune in!
