A Longing for Belonging

If you left the place where you grew up in the search of a better life, this episode is for you. The anxiety with which you search for a hometown delicacy in a new land is the same with which you look for familiar people and places when you visit your place of upbringing. In either case, you are slightly disappointed. When you move out, things also move on. Belonging is even trickier to nail down in a virtual world where we swap our digital identities as fast as we can swap the tabs of a browser. In a remote-first world, how does one reconcile belonging with the traditional notions of a workplace? I attempt an answer through a personal journey winding down the memory lanes of my hometown, Kolhapur.
