    Who controls you? – Romans8:1-11

    The law of sin and death refers to the Mosaic Law. The law revealed God’s standard, it revealed our shortcomings, it revealed the consequences of falling short, and it even revealed our innate proclivity or inclination to reject God and defy His standard. The law's purpose was to expose our moral failure and lead us to Christ, who fulfilled its requirements and offered life through His sacrifice.     The Lord is gracious in all He does - Psalm 145:2-14

    We all face challenges and burdens in life, they can feel overwhelming. These feelings of weight are not uncommon as we navigate through our daily lives. When we talk about putting our burdens on God, it means acknowledging that we cannot carry them alone, and realizing that we don’t have to. When our burdens cause us to stop thanking God, it often reflects a heart that has forgotten His goodness, a heart that is taking His gifts for granted, or a heart that is resisting His help The same Lord who parted seas, toppled Jericho’s walls, and raised His Son from the grave still works mightily today. Keep your eyes open, your heart grateful, and your lips ready; the world needs to hear that you have seen what the Lord can do.     False Optimism - Jeremiah 28:1-9

    How often have you heard this sentence: "I have some good news and some bad news. Which do you want to hear first?” God, too, has good and bad news for us. We are eager to hear the good news, but shudder at the idea of hearing bad news. Often, we display “Selective hearing”, because we only want to hear the good news. Now we are reminded that God’s judgment is coming to a world that forsakes God; it comes to individual persons who forsake God and live contrary to divine rules.     Confessions and Complaints - Jeremiah 20:7-13

    No one can promise you that your life will be pleasant, comfortable, free from stress and from aches and pains all the way through. No one can guarantee that your life will be happy, successful or that it will fulfill your dreams. There is an inherent risk in simply being born and living. With all that Jeremiah 20:13 tells us to praise the Lord: 13 Sing to the Lord! Praise the Lord! For though I was poor and needy, he rescued me from my oppressors”. This isn’t just about physical salvation from danger, but also the spiritual deliverance from sin, despair, and hopelessness. God is keenly interested in our well-being and provides a safe haven for those who seek Him.     An Unfaithful heart - Hosea 5:13-15, 6:1-6 NLT

    Hosea was a prophet in the northern kingdom of Israel during the 8th century BC. He was the last great prophet that God sent to the northern Kingdom of Israel before they were destroyed and exiled by Assyria. In chapter 5 we hear a tone of exasperation and desperation. Even God seems to look at humankind and ask Himself, "What shall I do with you, O Ephraim? Your love for me is as short-lived as the dew on the morning grass. God is saying: You refuse to acknowledge your sin and do not come to me for forgiveness. You make a pretense of having religion by offering sacrifices. All I want is steadfast love and knowledge of me.     A religion that Sings – Psalm 8

    The psalm is a hymn of praise that reflects on the grandeur of creation and the insignificance of humanity in comparison to God's glory. The greatness of God assures the worth of mankind. God, the all -powerful Creator, cares for his most valuable creation: people, Us! People in the Old Testament, worshipped the Lord in an open field, surrounded by nature, with birds singing, during the warm breeze of the day. There are times and occasions when a religious person must shout hallelujah. No question about it, the religion of the psalmist who wrote Psalm 8 is a religion that sings.     God’s Creation - Psalm 104:24-35 and Acts 2

    The word “Pentecost” comes from a Greek word meaning “fiftieth.” It appeared first during a Jewish festival called the Feast of Weeks, or Shavuot. Pentecost is often called the “birthday of the Christian Church.” Before this day, Jesus’ followers were hiding, scared after Jesus’ crucifixion. As they were gathered and prayed, on the day of Pentecost, “Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven. Friends, this shows how God used powerful signs—wind and fire—to show that something big was happening.
