When I clicked and listened to this podcast, I was expecting an informative podcast about stories from 911 dispatchers. I was expecting stories from their favorite calls, their worst calls, their most fun calls, etc. Listening to the first episode and their latest episode (“Most Memorable 9-1-1 Calls”), this is simply not what I expected. The hosts are from Covington, Georgia, but they do not explain that. Most podcasts I have listened to will set the scene using descriptive language to explain where they are from the beginning, but you have to be from Covington to know that they are from there. It feels like they expected their audience to be more local and to know more about dispatching. I wish they would explain things like it’s to an audience who didn’t know anything about dispatching, public safety, Covington, etc. Without that knowledge, the listener is incredibly confused and constantly asking questions about who or what they are referring to. Also, I wish they would add more structure to this show. Currently, it sounds like they are just recording themselves having a conversation with no idea of where they want to start or end. If they are going to continue doing a podcast this way, I wish they would set up questions or a loose script so they know what they are going to be talking about and where they will be going with the episode. In the most recent episode, they had so many stories they were trying to tell, and I loved that. You can tell these women have a wealth of experience and knowledge and so many stories to tell! Their expertise and passion shines through and I love that. But, each episode needs more focus. Maybe instead of having so many stories in one episode have each episode focused on one call or maybe two calls. You tell the stories from beginning to end from the dispatcher’s perspective so that we learn about how dispatchers take calls, how they work, the CAD and radio systems they use, how calls come in, their reactions, the lasting impact, etc. Make it a story with plenty of details to draw the listener in and keep them interested and entertained. My favorite part of the latest episode was hearing the stories of the calls and their impact on the dispatchers. I wish there was more of that! Maybe even incorporating the calls themselves since they are public record. That would be an even more immersive experience. I love the idea of this podcast. The hosts, Anessa and Trudy, are interesting hosts. I just wish there were more details and focus. That would make this podcast awesome and one for the Top Charts for sure! I hope they do improve on it and become even better podcasters.
