  1. Reset: From Division to Unity

    Jan 4

    Reset: From Division to Unity

Key Points: The church is called to be holy people—set apart, not perfect (1 Corinthians 1:2). Division was the core issue in the Corinthian church and remains a threat today. Jesus prayed for unity because division damages the church’s witness (John 17). The gospel challenges honor-shame culture through humility and the cross. Unity begins by thinking like Jesus, adopting His mindset of humility and service. Quarreling and fighting in the church are serious sins that must stop. The church must reject the cult of personality and elevate Christ alone. True unity centers on Christ, the cross, and baptism, not leaders or preferences. Love—not pride or preference—is the mark of a unified church (1 Corinthians 13). Scripture References: 1 Corinthians 1:2 – Called to be God’s holy people 1 Corinthians 1:9–17 – Appeal for unity and rejection of divisions John 17:21 – Jesus’ prayer that believers may be one Philippians 2:5–7 – The mindset of Christ: humility and servanthood Galatians 6:14 – Boasting only in the cross of Christ Ephesians 2:13 – Brought near by the blood of Christ 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 – The definition and power of love ------------------------------------------ We're so glad you're here!    Visit us online at www.orrville.church Or connect with us on: • Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/orrvillechristian.church/  • Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/orrvillechristian/ • YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@orrvillechristianchurch5959   If you’d like to partner with us in giving, you can give online here: https://www.occgive.com/ As our guest, please feel no pressure to give—this is for those who call OCC home.    Let us know you’re listening! 2. Three Steps Before the New Year

    12/28/2025

Three Steps Before the New Year

Key Points: A new year doesn’t make us new—intentional steps taken beforehand do. Growth comes not from experience alone, but from reflecting on it. God calls His people to remember His Word and live by it. Remembering God’s Word means reading, obeying, and applying it daily. True repentance is a change of mind that leads to a change of direction. John the Baptist fulfilled Malachi’s promise by calling people to repentance. Restoration comes only through Jesus, not the law or prophets. Jesus took the curse upon Himself on the cross to offer blessing and renewal. Before entering a new year, believers must intentionally unpack what weighs them down and carry forward what draws them closer to God. Scripture References: Malachi 4:4–6 Deuteronomy 4:8–10 Joshua 1:7–8 Exodus 20:1–17 (Ten Commandments – referenced) Matthew 22:37–40 Psalm 119:105 Job 23:12 1 Kings 18 (Elijah on Mount Carmel – referenced) Luke 1:13–17 Matthew 11:14 Acts 2:38 Matthew 17:11–12 1 Peter 4:17 ------------------------------------------ We're so glad you're here! 3. When Christmas Comes to Town: The Gift That Many Miss

    12/14/2025

When Christmas Comes to Town: The Gift That Many Miss

Key Points: Many Missed the Greatest Gift – Jesus, the true light, came into the world but was not recognized or received by many. Knowing vs. Receiving Jesus – It’s not enough to know facts about Jesus; we must personally receive Him into our lives. Some Received the Gift by Grace – Those who believe in Jesus are spiritually reborn and become children of God by grace, not by works or heritage. Believers Are Called to Reveal the Gift – Like John the Baptist, we are sent to bear witness and share Christ’s light with others. Live Wisely and Shine Where You Are – Life is short, and we are called to intentionally reflect Jesus in our daily actions, especially during Christmas. Chapter Timecodes & Links: Many Missed the Greatest Gift – 0:00–3:03 Knowing vs. Receiving Jesus – 7:14–8:11 Some Received the Gift by Grace – 9:27–11:17 Believers Are Called to Reveal the Gift – 13:17–15:36 Live Wisely and Shine Where You Are – 20:23–23:26 Key Scripture: John 1:6–8 – John the Baptist as a witness to the light John 1:9–11 – Jesus, the true light, rejected by many John 1:12–13 – Becoming children of God by faith Isaiah 53 – The unexpected Messiah Ephesians 2:8–9 – Salvation by grace through faith John 20:31 – Purpose of John’s Gospel Matthew 5:14–16 – Believers as the light of the world Psalm 90:12 – Numbering our days to gain wisdom ------------------------------------------ We're so glad you're here! 4. When Christmas Comes to Town: The Word that Lights Up the World

    12/07/2025

When Christmas Comes to Town: The Word that Lights Up the World

Key Points: Christmas begins in eternity—Jesus existed before creation. Jesus is the eternal Word (Logos) who is fully God. Jesus created all things and is the source of life. His life is the light humanity desperately needs. Darkness can’t overcome His light—ever. Our personal darkness has a beginning, but Jesus does not. Only Christ can fill the “God-sized hole” in every human heart. No darkness in our lives is too deep for Jesus to reach. We’re called to bring hidden darkness into His light. God invites us into an exchange: darkness for light, sin for righteousness, death for life.
