Opinions with Ayan is a podcast that will cover a variety of topics that are viewed as taboo in society, along with my experiences and my identities. I will share my highs and lows, along with valuable lessons that I have learned in my life. The podcast will feature guests that I will have conversations with in order to gain insight outside of my experiences. Some key topics that I will talk about is my journey with my religion, race, gender, and as a first generation college student in the United States.     Episode 05: Why is it important to deal with our trauma?

    In this episode, I talk about Erika Hill's story and how much her story has left a lasting impression on me. Her story has brought up a lot of issues within communities, the invisibility of Black girls in society, and how the system failed in protecting her Black body. I delve more into intergenerational trauma and the harm of corporal punishment. The story was covered more in depth on the podcast by Lilada Gee called "Defending Black Girlhood". I would highly recommend giving it a listen!

    Episode 02: You need healing, but do I also need healing?

    In this episode, I talk about what it means to take accountability, in terms of my own healing and personal journey. Instead of telling people to go heal when I see that they need that, I am telling my own self to work on myself and I talk about things I want to work on regarding my religion, spirituality, and fears. Growing starts from looking within and I hope you enjoy listening to me talk about wanting to explore that in my life right now :)

    Episode 01: Is being "religious" uncool?

    In this first episode, I talk about whether having "religious" preferences and being "religious" is uncool in our generation. I speak about my own experience as a Muslim and how growing up, the desire to fit in made me filter my religious values along with the fact that dressing modestly has made people around me filter themselves due to fear of judgment on their end.
