We discuss the many issues around bands trying to make money, venues trying to make money, merchandise, touring and everything else. We probably have more questions than answers, but it makes for an interesting chat. We look into whether or not success online translates to tickets sales. Matt chats through his experience at All Points East and we wonder what expectations people have at festivals and if they are realistic or not.     Season 11 Episode 1: Emo Dad talks to unpeople Matt and James are BACK, and we start season 11 with a bang, as we speak to the lovely Em and Jake from THE hottest UK band right now, unpeople. unpeople gained high praise from the likes of Kerrang! Magazine (‘A phenomenon waiting to happen’) and Distorted Sound (‘arena-worthy hooks… hellacious screams… gloriously heavy guitars’). unpeople have been nominated for two Heavy Music Awards in 2025 - Best Breakthrough Live Artist and Best UK Breakthrough Artist, having also received a nomination in 2024.  unpeople release their incredible new album, we are unpeople, on 9 October and are on the road this (and next) year with the likes of Don Broco, Royal Blood and their own headline tour.  We LOVE this band so it was a pleasure to chat all about the new album, their amazing live shows, their transition from previous band, Press to Meco, and so much more.  We hope you enjoy. Join us as we discuss our thoughts on the festival, from the perspective of going with mates and also going with a child! We chat about all the amazing bands we saw, including the likes of I Am The Avalanche, Carsick, Arcane Roots, Thistle, Free Throw, Glassjaw, Anthony Green, Higher Power and many many more, including some bands who were new to us and got us excited. Of course we talk about various LOGISTICS and boring stuff which we like to obsess over, like the layout of the festival, how many water taps there were and the fact they don’t play music over the speakers between bands… controversial move or power play?
