I couldn’t do this series without interviewing fellow photographer and ALYK sponsor, the one and only Chris Victor - the founder and editor of Bored Magazine! He’s also the vocalist and lead for the outlaw hardcore band from the Lone Star state, Texas, True Grit. In conversation with Chris, we discussed the DFW hardcore scene, professionalism vs. mental health, and how he celebrates Black mental health as a father. Over the past month, we’ve been working on a series of episodes that will feature all the Black performers on the 2022 lineup. The interviews will explore the relationship between Black hardcore musicians and mental health. Infinity with Caine Casket

I found out about Caine Casket through Briana Boyd's Lesser Known Self - a podcast about mental health and music for people of color. Briana was the first HAYRF guest of season two! In that episode, we talked about detaching from the weight of generational fear, delayed loneliness from childhood, feeling valuable, and the courage to ask for help. Sunlight with Quincy Williams

Athlete and cheer coach, Quincy Williams, and I sat down earlier this week to discuss how he’s evolved over the past year, the role cheerleading has played in his life and his favorite ways to show and receive love. Quincy and I met in junior high through our school's marching band program and went to the same high school. He’s currently a college student and is the Head Cheerleading Coach at his gym, Platinum Cheer Company Inc.
