Burro vs. Mule: Which Duffel Is Right for You? Ep. 111

Two duffel bags. Two very different jobs.In this episode of The Cutter Cast, Seth, Taylor, and Jake break down the Burro Duffel and Mule Duffel—why Canvas Cutter built both, how they differ, and which one makes the most sense depending on how you travel. The Burro is the grab-it-and-go option: great for carry-on travel, shorter trips, weekend hunts, and anyone who wants a rugged bag that works just as well in the airport as it does at camp. The Mule steps things up with more capacity, more organization, and dedicated lined compartments for boots and dirty clothes—making it better suited for longer trips, bigger hunts, overpackers, and anyone who simply needs to haul more gear. Seth, Taylor, and Jake also talk through the design philosophy behind both bags, how customers are actually using them, what surprised us after launch, and the scenarios where one clearly makes more sense than the other. If you’ve been trying to decide between the Burro and the Mule, this episode should make that choice a whole lot easier.--------------------------------------------------------------If you want spam-free notifications, updates, information and deals on Canvas Cutter products and content sign up for our Email and SMS by clicking the link: https://canvascutter.com/pages/cutter-crew#signupCheck us out at:Website: https://canvascutter.com/pages/canvas-cutter-brandFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/canvascutter/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/canvascutter/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@canvascutter

Field Notes #36: She’s Girthy, Wet Is Miserable & Gear Gets Personal Ep. 110

She’s girthy, the weather refuses to cooperate, and sometimes the “best” gear setup comes down to personal preference. In Field Notes #36, we’re back with more customer stories, gear questions, behind-the-scenes updates, and whatever else is happening around Canvas Cutter. This week, we hear from a hunter heading deep into elk and moose country with a recurve, a Summit 3.0, and an old Dominator—plus some serious praise for the Bedrock Air Pad. We also hear from a Burro Duffel owner who discovered the bag holds a whole lot more than it looks like it should and put the dirty-clothes divider to work. Then we dig into a thoughtful Summit 3.0 question from a customer in the Northeast dealing with cold temperatures, nonstop rain, condensation, and the realities of setting up after hours of hiking in wet weather. It opens up a bigger conversation about tradeoffs in gear design, exterior versus interior pole systems, durability, condensation, and why there isn’t always one “perfect” answer for everybody. We’ve also got another Bedroll Baptism on the way, new content about the generational side of Canvas Cutter and hunting, a Cutter Cast episode about the Burro and Mule Duffels, extended archery content, and Father Wisdom’s late-season muzzleloader hunt coming up. And don’t forget: October’s Dominator Owners Club giveaway is a HOWL R1 Propane Fire Pit with carry bag, a $540 value. Rain happens. Gear has tradeoffs. And apparently some bags are just girthy. Let’s get after it.

Kyle Paxman's Alaska Moose Hunt: Bad Luck, Giant Bears & One Wild Ending

Alaska is supposed to be the trip of a lifetime.Sometimes it is. Just not in the way you expect. In this episode of The Cutter Cast, Seth and Jake sit down with Kyle Paxman to hear the full story of his recent Alaska moose hunt, including the highs, the lows, and what felt like an almost endless string of bad luck.Kyle went into the hunt with big expectations, but after days of glassing without seeing a legal bull, encounters with bears, sightings of some absolutely massive bears, and plenty of frustration, the reality of hunting Alaska started to look a little different than the dream. Then a giant bull finally showed up.What happened next only added another twist to a hunt that rarely seemed to go according to plan.By the end of the trip, Kyle was one of only three hunters out of a group of eighteen to put a tag on a bull moose, but even that success came in a way he never expected. And somehow, getting home managed to become its own adventure.Kyle breaks down the entire experience, what he learned, what he would do differently, and why this trip might change the way you think about an Alaska moose hunt, or at least help keep your expectations realistic.Giant country. Giant bears. Giant expectations. And a hunt that refused to follow the script.--------------------------------------------------------------If you want spam-free notifications, updates, information and deals on Canvas Cutter products and content sign up for our Email and SMS by clicking the link: https://canvascutter.com/pages/cutter-crew#signupCheck us out at:Website: https://canvascutter.com/pages/canvas-cutter-brandFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/canvascutter/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/canvascutter/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@canvascutter

Bull Down! O.T.C. Archery Elk Hunt Recap Ep. 107

They rolled into camp around 2:00 a.m. and were hunting by 6:00. In this episode of The Cutter Cast, Seth and Jake recap a recent over-the-counter archery elk hunt with Taylor that went from zero to full chaos in a hurry. Within minutes of starting the morning, they were into elk, hearing bugles, making moves, and trying to keep up with a hunt that seemed to change by the second. Less than an hour later, after a few completely unexpected turns, they were standing over an old bull and celebrating a hunt they won’t soon forget. They break down how the morning unfolded, the decisions that put them in position, the strange circumstances surrounding the kill, and what it was like watching everything come together so quickly. Of course, getting a bull down is only half the story. They also get into the hellish pack out, the exhaustion that followed, and why even the hardest parts of a hunt like this somehow become part of what makes the whole experience so memorable. A short night. Bugling bulls. An ancient elk. A brutal pack out. Sometimes the hunts that happen the fastest leave you with the most to talk about.--------------------------------------------------------------If you want spam-free notifications, updates, information and deals on Canvas Cutter products and content sign up for our Email and SMS by clicking the link: https://canvascutter.com/pages/cutter-crew#signupCheck us out at:Website: https://canvascutter.com/pages/canvas-cutter-brandFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/canvascutter/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/canvascutter/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@canvascutter
