Talk on to Walk on with Michelle Walters

Michelle Walters

I am Michelle Walters, creator of “Talk on to Walk on”. In 2020, I stepped back from 30 years in the corporate world. I now know I had burn out. The global lockdown timing was fortuitous giving me permission to pause for longer than I thought I needed.  And so began my healing process - a story I have still yet to fully share but, “Talk on to Walk on” was born and you hear glimpses of my story during my shared conversations throughout the podcast episodes.  Be it by circumstance, habit or fear of judgment, we are all guilty of keeping true feelings and desires buried. As a result we then limit ourselves in the life we want to lead.  “Talk on to Walk on” which has evolved into a coaching, mentoring and talks offer, is my way of addressing this.  My husband, Patrick, an accomplished corporate leader, business and life mentor now joins me and you on our joint, life journeys. We met and changed our careers while navigating midlife. We are passionate about sharing our ongoing mindset lessons as well as inspirational life stories from guests who, through simple conversations and positive self talk, found the courage to ‘walk on’ to where they are today.  We believe with the right mindset and courage to open up to the right people, there is no limit to what can be achieved, at any stage of life and this is our offer to you. Please do subscribe, rate and review. You are helping us to share our mindset messages, supporting our community and encouraging more people to share how they really feel and to take the steps towards their dreams. “Talk on to Walk on” supports Liverpool community causes and charities both financially and through our voluntary talks and flexible payment coaching offer. If you like what you hear and wish to take the smallest steps to create the life you really want, whatever your age, then please do connect with us.  Press play now and let’s “Talk on to Walk on” together, and see where it leads... 1. Season 7, Episode 48 Trailer

#48 Trailer for: Is It Scary To Be 60?

Is It Scary to Be 60? Is turning 60 scary? Or is it actually a chance to look back, let go and look forward with a little more freedom? In this episode, we’re celebrating Patrick turning 60 although, in low-key fashion, there’s been no huge party or extravagant celebration! Instead, the highlight was a very special trip to Kenya where Patrick went to Pembroke House school from 8 - 13 and where some of his earliest memories were formed. We talk about how much our upbringing shapes who we become as adults, the expectations, habits and ways of thinking that stay with us for years. But we also explore the freedom that comes with getting older: learning to let go of some of those expectations, accepting that not everything has to be done the way it always was, and becoming more comfortable with who we truly are. There’s plenty of reminiscing, but importantly, no regrets. We talk about the value of looking back fondly while resisting the temptation to live in the past. After all, there’s still plenty to look forward to. We giggle about our new midlife identities. On safari in Kenya, we imagine ourselves as Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in Out of Africa… while back at home, we’re more like the midlife couple from The Good Life, happily pottering around the garden and allotment! And then there are the inevitable ailments that seem to become part of the conversation as we get older. We laugh about our various aches, pains and longer recovery times but also recognise how lucky we are to live in a time when many of these things can be treated and fixed, even if our bodies don't bounce back quite as quickly as they once did! Patrick also asks Michelle the question that perhaps matters most: how does she feel now that Patrick has turned 60? And Michelle gives him an honest answer… So, is it scary to be 60? Perhaps it’s less about the number and more about what you choose to do with it. Come and join us for a personal, funny and reflective conversation about getting older, growing wiser, letting go, remembering where we came from and being excited about what comes next. Because 60 might just be the beginning of the next adventure. #46 10 Years of Change 2016 - 2026

10 Years of Change: 2016–2026   In this episode, Michelle and Patrick reflect on the decade that changed everything from a time when they hadn’t yet met, and life looked very different.    Michelle shares honestly about where she was ten years ago, grieving the loss of her mum, navigating divorce, and relying on antidepressants to get through the day.    Both admit how, after they met, what followed wasn’t a sudden transformation but a relationship built on honest and often difficult conversations.    They reflect how 2019 especially, was a year that was anything but calm.  Despite the busyness, they made intentional choices about where to place their energy, creating a memorable wedding and re-building a home for their future together. A reminder that even in the busiest of times, we still get to choose what matters.   Together they talk about:-  how difficult it can be to create space when life is loud, busy, and full of distractions. why we often avoid stillness, and how constant "doing stuff” can keep us stuck. They also explore how their definition of success has shifted from external markers and expectations to something more aligned with their own reality and how they want life to feel.   This episode is for you if: You like a good story You feel like your life needs a fresh approach andYou know you’re distracting yourself from making change and/orWant to redefine how success looks and feels in your life  Key take aways…  ✨ Transition takes time. ✨ You don’t need all the answers. ✨ You need to create space.   Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or watch on You Tube. #45 Midlife Milestones: Rethinking Birthdays

🎙️ Midlife Milestones: Rethinking Birthdays  If you’ve ever blown out birthday candles with mixed emotions or wondered how to embrace midlife with more humour, grace and gratitude this conversation is for you. Together, Michelle and Patrick explore the emotional mix that comes with getting older; the fear, the gratitude, and the realisation that ageing, at its core, is a privilege. They dig into the mindset required to hold both truths at once: acknowledging the reality of how we feel about getting older, while also choosing to appreciate what each year brings.  Some practical mindset tips, including the power of surrounding yourself with young people whose energy can shift your perspective in all the right ways. Deciding that it’s actually “cool to get old” their discussion invites their listeners to rethink how they view birthdays and ageing by “counting your blessings not the candles.”  Listen now on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or watch on You Tube.
