    SPFL weekend 6 review!

Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Scottish Football Podcast episode 221! Another packed week of SPFL football – and thank you for joining us. In the Premiership, the country’s top two sides served up an entertaining contest as St Mirren gave as good as they got against Celtic. Elsewhere, Pressley took his team to Tynecastle, and we discussed St Johnstone v Hibernian because, frankly, it was never going to be any of the other games, was it? In the Championship, Friday night football kickstarted the weekend as Andrew Shinnie and Marvin Bartley returned to former club Livingston and got Bsuccessor the sack at Almondvale. Inverness Caledonian Thistle lost at home for the first time in more than a year, while Queen’s Park finally got their first win on the board against a struggling Greenock Morton. League One featured a derby that allowed Hamilton Academical to extend their lead at the top after Ross County stuttered against an impressive East Fife. Queen of the South, meanwhile, left Airdrieonians as the only side in the division without a win after victory over the Diamonds at Palmerston. And finally, League Two produced some crackers, including Ali Omar’s wonderstrike from his own half. Clyde, with the returning Nathan Cannon involved, found themselves in another shootout against Edinburgh opposition, while Stranraer recorded their biggest win in Forfar for 50 years. All that and more on the only Scottish football podcast you need to get you through these dreich autumn months. Chapters Intro (00:27) Performance(s) of the week (01:38) Marquee Matchups (15:00) The Final Word (51:05) Outro (66:35)   All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! SPFL match day 5 review!

Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Scottish Football Podcast episode 220! It was a great weekend to park yourself in front of the television as we had action on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from the country’s top three tiers. First off, we had Dunfermline Athletic's late victory in the Championship over Fife rivals Raith Rovers. The late kick-off on Saturday saw East Kilbride take a proper pasting from a Ross County side who only appear to be going from strength to strength. And finally, on Sunday, a Rangers low on confidence travelled up to Pittodrie.  Our other marquee matchup may not have had the cameras at it, but it was box office as the Spartans had a three-goal deficit with half an hour to play and drew against a threatening Clyde outfit. In a weekend full of goals, we were spoiled for performances of the week in Elgin, Kilmarnock, Montrose, and Stenhousemuir. And the final word allowed us to discuss Motherwell and St Mirren for the first time this season; why Gayfield is a difficult place to go; how Kyle Glasgow looks in the flesh; and how Stranraer manage to make it into the running order every week. All that and more on the only Scottish football podcast you need to get through to next weekend. All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! SPFL match day 4 review!

[Nb: post production note: There are a couple technical issues with our imported sound. Apologies for the few short silent sections. The full podcast content is there though so please bear with us and we’ll have it fixed next episode!]  Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Scottish Football Podcast episode 219!  The Premiership may have mostly been resting, but we weren't. In the top flight's only encounter, Dundee crossed the road and turned over their Tannadice rivals. The Championship had a full card starting on Friday night, as Inverness Caledonian and Partick drew in the ‘Thistle derby’. Livingston got back to winning ways at Almondvale. And Arbroath edged past Morton, whose problems lay off the field as much as on it. In League One, Ross County backed up their League Cup victory with a win in Airdrie. Kyle Glasgow ran the show for Alloa. And Montrose routed East Kilbride. In League Two, Forfar suffered their first defeat of their league season. Kelty Hearts looked comfortable once again in familiar surroundings. And Annan Athletic suffered defeat thanks to their second late, late concession in as many weeks. We discuss the new Scotland boss Sébastien Pocognoli, examining what he may bring to the international scene. All that and more on the only Scottish football podcast you need to get you through the middle of the week. Chapters Intro (00:28) Performance(s) of the week (02:05) Marquee Matchups (17:20) The Final Word (44:45) Any other business – Sébastien Pocognoli (57:25) Outro (64:20) All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated! SPFL match day 3 review!

Hello and welcome to the Late Kick Off Scottish Football Podcast episode 218! The League Cup has rolled round once again which meant the absence of Premiership, Championship and even one League One fixture (lucky Queen of the South). There were not too many shocks in the competition, but Mike is annoyed at the performance of Dunfermline Athletic. More spectacularly though is Motherwell’s elimination to part-time Stenhousemuir. We also describe when a 6-2 is not a 6-2 as Heart of Midlothian see themselves past League One champions Inverness Caledonian Thistle. And beaten finalists Celtic also qualify in a flattering 4-0 at Tannadice. In League One, Jamie raves over the performance of Alloa Athletic and their man of the match, 16-year-old Kyle Glasgow, who was on the bench at Ibrox in their Europa League qualifier just three days prior. There was also the little matter of a Lanarkshire derby back at New Douglas Park. And is Ian Campbell correct: do part-time teams play too many “stupid games”? In League Two, we enthused over Elgin’s triumph against Kelty Hearts. We dissect Dumbarton’s dodgy defending against Edinburgh City, and Stranraer riding their luck against the Spartans, who have now failed to win in four attempts against them. All that and more on the only Scottish football podcast you need to get through that weekly big shop. All reviews, likes, shares and of course listens are hugely appreciated!
